Man, 2007 was fun. Stafford, Moreno, and Massaquoi. Geno Atkins, Dannell Ellerbe, and Asher Allen. A stupid loss to Spurrier (edit: during his tenure in Columbia) and another head scratcher to Tennessee kept this team out of the BCS conversation, but the 2007 Sugar Bowl was a masterclass in “what could’ve been”. This was the year of the touchdown dance in the end zone that resulted in a win against Florida, although it was adequate fuel for Meyer and company to kick the shit out of us for the subsequent seasons to come. The famed Blackout game and Soulja Boy against Auburn that had Verne and Gary dancing during the broadcast. Fun times.
It’s hard to believe there was a time we were “surprised” to beat Florida and Tennessee in the same season.
