Return on Investment

So it looks like we won’t be spending our Collective (or ticket tax?) dollars on any offensive skill players that don’t lineup in the box anytime soon. Why? Allow Brooks Austin to explain Kirby’s investment strategy, and suddenly it makes sense.

If we could somehow invest in futures for the next Brock Bowers, it would be appreciated. That unicorn is certainly missed right now.

  1. Well, there isn’t a cap and NIL for linemen is probably not needing to be as much as for 5* skill positions. Yes, we’re good because Kirby is loading-up on the best linemen in the country and they want to play at Georgia as an almost guaranteed ticket to the NFL. But at some point…and we have the money…we’re going to have to fill those skill positions with surprising 3*s (Kirby can’t coach ’em up though! /s) and a playmaker or two in the backfield and at WR. The portal can continue to be our friend for that, and he’s shown he can stack the QB room continuously.

  2. Don’t worry. According to the Bobo apologists around here, Bobo is elite and will take Georgia to the promised land.

    • Oh you’ve still got sand in your clit because some y wouldn’t agree with you about Mike Bobo? That’s funny. You gonna yell at the OP for referencing Brooks Austin? lol.

  3. I wonder how much of that is job security. In other words do the boosters (the paymasters) at other programs push the coaches to pay premiums for the shiny toys and they don’t have the autonomy to ignore it or say “stfu?”

  4. As much as I love the message, it didn’t look like we spent a bunch of money on the o-line last Saturday until very very late. Greene in particular stuck out at times. Like all great teams, I’m sure we’ll show up under the brightest lights. Looking forward to a return to form in 8 days.

  5. I think Kirby’s strategy also has to do with the grind of the SEC season and now the extended games for the playoffs. Attrition takes its toll especially in the trenches. Rolling guys at the LOS addresses that directly.

  6. Austin has a point. The game is won and lost in the trenches and the closer to the ball you get. If I’m going to allocate NIL money, I’m doing it there.

You also need playmakers in space. Do we get Brock Bowers in a post-NIL world? Who knows? A match-up nightmare at TE makes everyone better. Look at the best teams on Sundays. They have a guy at that spot who can put his hand in the dirt in line, play H-back, or go into the slot.
