Recruits Who Recruit

Kirby likes to surround himself with coaches who can recruit, that’s nothing new. With the Curtis announcement, you could sense a little Richard LeCounte in that Curtis was immediately and openly trying to get the nations best OT prospect, Jackson Cantwell, to become a Dawg.

As always, the Twitter universe and of course the Bobby Hillbillies, were a touch bitter about a Tennessee man taking their services to Georgia. In the mix of all that, Cantwell was taking their nonsense in stride, as evidenced here:

I like him. I like him a lot. It’ll be interesting to see who jumps in and follows as Curtis locks in his commitment.

Meanwhile, in Oregon:

Go Dawgs!

  1. Cantwell immediately became one of my favorite recruits by responding to that insufferable dipshit Robert McVol. The bastard must live on X. ANY time there’s something positive about the Dawgs on there, he’s sure to post his usual crap about jail/racing etc.
Hope he gets the drizzling shits and it lasts say…the rest of his fukn life.

    • It’s dipshits like McVol that got Tooth Nation into the meteor game final of the GTPR WORST fan base playoff.

It should tell you something that the Handbags beat this bunch.

  2. If you haven’t watched the press conference, apparently, Dad knew the decision was Georgia and was videoing Mom when Curtis sent the text to his family group chat, “Wear Georgia stuff tomorrow.” It sounds like Mom got caught crying tears of joy as a result. She wanted Georgia all along, and I guarantee it’s because he’ll be closer to home.

The main line of recruiting never changes, “Get Mom on your side, and the kid will follow.”

Oregon was going to have to make an NIL offer that would make the Curtis family ignore that Georgia has prioritized Curtis from the beginning especially when he and Julian Lewis were in the same class.

For every Justus Terry, there are 10 Jared Curtis and Elijah Griffin type of recruits where relationships still matter.

Said differently, Kirby is still on the mother.

  3. The young man mentioned he wanted a coach with a track record of developing NFL talent. Didn’t hurt that Bobo has the highest paid player ever Matt Stafford on his list of past Qb’s.

    • Bobo might have missed on some QB’s but generally it’s rare to see his QB’s regress. I’m beginning to think last season was more a Carson Beck thing than a Bobo thing. With Coach Luke’s step back at recruiting tackles and Coley not coaching receivers to catch the ball and our injuries-it’s a miracle we won the league.

      • I remember Gary Danielson saying during the LSU game Murray’s senior year that he went to a practice that week and never saw a ball hit the ground.

You can take shots at Bobo the play caller (I have), but he has proven to be a good QB coach over his career. I’m guessing Mike was involved with Monken with the leap SBIV took between 2021 and 2022.

        • Not to defend Bobo the play caller, and we’ll never know the truth, but what happens to his box of crayons based on direction from the Head Coach, and info from the Line coach and Receivers coach?

As a QB coach? Between he and Faulkner there was a lot of breathing room for Stetson considering Monken didn’t want him. The 30 for 30 about Kirby’s QBs is gonna be bonkers (if we even care about the game that’s currently circling the drain by then).

  4. When it comes to saying stupid shit, Vol fans never disappoint.
