Number 96, With a Bullet

I mentioned Podlesny in Otis’s Huddle Up, then came across this:

One of the most surreal games I’ve watched in the CKS era, I remember Pickens having a great game and a safety to seal the deal by Ojulari in the end. It felt like we were sleepwalking throughout the game, I felt like I was sleep watching it, too. Totally forgot JT Daniels was our QB that game…

Was it the kick that started the unforgettable run to the National Championship?

  1. Team showed real grit. Kirby really has his team’s dialed in after that Sugar Bowl fiasco.

    • Agreed. I really do consider this one as the curtain raiser for 2021 and 2022. If Georgia had lost to Cincinnati, then there any number of blowhards (especially from the Bucknut State) ready to dump all over our program with nary a nod at the fact that our guys had 10 starters who had opted out, for various reasons. Unfortunately for the Bearcats, these did not include Ojulari, who ended the game with a memorable safety, and Pod was one of a slew of youngsters who stepped up and did what had to be done. CKS really upped his game in terms of non-playoff Bowl prep after the Texas-is-back fiasco back in December 2018. 12-game playoff is going to wipe out most of the need for that, I suspect.

  2. What I remember most is the cheap shot that James Hudson III threw that got him tossed. That poor German kid they put in for him didn’t have a clue.

  3. Kicks have gone Georgia’s way against the state of Ohio and it is a beautiful thing.

  4. The unseason of ‘20. Such a weird season and such a weird time. I don’t remember much about that season other than a few isolated snapshots. I remember watching the Auburn and Tennessee games but can’t remember much in the way of details. I remember the first half of the Florida game and I remember some of the Alabama game. I must have watched this game but I don’t remember anything about it. It looks so weird seeing all those people wearing masks. Thank God all that mess is over.

  5. That was a big win. That’s one of those that are hard to get done. Kids don’t want to be there. They are making moves for the next stage. Other team wants to make a statement by getting a W. Saban lost at least three of these at alabama.
