No, it’s not a Musical Palate Cleanser, but I’ll include the relevant song here, anyway.
With the recent ruckus over fan motivation in the Sun Bowl Sanford Stadium during oddly hot October weather, Smart quickly shot down the idea of an alternate jersey for Saturday’s game against the Bizarro Dawgs.
Red and Black, it is.
What’s your thoughts? Fan of the black jerseys or no?
I mean they look good. And I’m not opposed to wearing them occasionally. But I do want to steer clear of the gimmickry fake juice type stuff.
Yeah, that about sums it up for me, too. I’m not a huge fan of alternate uniforms but I can live with black jerseys every once in a blue moon.
Too many bad memories, so, no.
I believe we have lost 1 game in the black jersey and the jersey wasn’t the reason.
You’re correct EE. I suppose I feel like Richt did after the ’08 Bama loss, I didn’t blame the loss on the jerseys. At the same time, I didn’t want to see them again.
The black jersey looks incredible with the red helmet and the silver britches, but an afternoon game in early October is not the spot for them or for a fan blackout.
I hate to say it, but the Greek student sections in the upper deck are the problem. They arrive barely on time and leave at half or early 3rd.
The people who stay for an entire September/October game in the 600 level should have their dermatology bills paid by the reserve fund. Generally, there’s nowhere to hide from the afternoon sun on the north side.
Just to smack the horse one more time: People of that age have fairly short attention spans. Keep stopping play like they do and I’d meander off myself looking for something to flirt with or drink. Thinking about it, that happened to me this weekend…
The black jerseys and red helmets of 2008 Sugar Bowl fame are my favorite Dawg uniforms ever. Possibly my favorite Georgia team. Bunch of Bad-asses in Bad-ass uniforms.
Like the black jerseys, but save them for bowl games when we don’t make the playoffs.
This or the last home game every other year (before playoffs) so everyone knows it’s part of a new tradition rather than fake juice.
If they are going to wear alternate uniforms, then wear them for the last home game as a tribute to the team’s seniors. Don’t use them as a motivational tool. If you need a gimmick to get your team ready to play, you havesome major cultural problems.
My idea was that the Seniors pick the home game they get to wear them in IF they win in Jax. This year it would probably be Tennessee. But it might be Tech. They might vote to wear them in the playoffs. Who knows? Up to them.
I like the fact that cks is not backing down on this. You are there to create an advantage and help win the damn game. Dyj or we will find someone who will. No excuses.
This guy is about the grind. Every day he’s hustling. And if he looks around one day and finds that he’s alone, he’ll be gone. There will be no resting on laurels. We’re either hunting or we’re dying.
I’m there as a paying customer along with 93,000 others. I stand and cheer and do it at the right times. I also listen to about 3-4 idiots 3 rows behind me bitch about every play that doesn’t score a touchdown like the extent of their knowledge of football is limited to NCAA 2014 on JV mode.
I think Kirby needs to be telling the university, “Don’t ever put Homecoming overlapping a rivalry game again.”
I’m glad my seats are on the south side rather than in the broiling sun of the north side. I’m not surprised in the least that the north side was practically empty once the score went to 28-10.
Next home game just turn around and introduce yourself to “Wade Wilson”.
Those “couch coordinators” ruin everything. I had one next to me at the seccg last year.
I mean that was painful enough without listening to that horseshit.
I did have fun with a gaggle of them at Starkville one night. There was a crew of about three or four running their mouths after every play. This was the night we lost down there to Mullen.
We ran a play where we pulled the RG and he hit no one. It was Bolling. He usually played LT but he had started playing both.
Anyway I was pissed because the play went nowhere and Bolling just stood there in the hole doing nothing. Literally. He would have done more good if he’d have stayed in his stance.
I commented on it and the couch coordinators snickered and said: Bolling plays tackle.
I pointed at the replay screen and made them watch it as Bolling did exactly what I said.
The “experts” pretty much shut their holes the rest of the game. Part of the reason they act like that is because no one challenges them when they say stupid shit.
I just wish they’d wear the red pants on the road more often…
I’m probably overusing the black jerseys in NCAA25, but once a year in real life would be cool. As others have said, make it the jersey for the last home game every year or something like that. Then it becomes a new tradition rather than a “fake juice” thing.
Like others have said, I think they should be worn on Senior Day each year making it a new tradition and not a fake juice situation. Also, that prevents it being too hot a day to be wearing black for the fans and the players since it would be n November.
I think we should do the black jerseys like LSU does their purple. Basically home non-conference games against cupcakes.
