The SEC released the first batch of game times for early September and a few other rivalry games (https://www.secsports.com/fbtv#schedule) on Thursday. The one surprise I saw is Alabama will host Wisconsin at 11 a.m. Central as the warm-up for what is likely the last UGA-Tennessee game in Knoxville for a few years regardless of the scheduling format in 2026. The flip side is that LSU gets 2 home games at night right off the bat.
As it relates to Georgia, the first 3 games will all be at 3:30. I’m just glad the Tennessee game won’t be at night in Kneeland. No surprise that the last Cocktail Party in Jacksonville for a couple of years will be in its traditional 3:30 slot. A really big surprise is that Clean Old-Fashioned Hate in Mercedes-Benz will be sandwiched between the hatefests of the Egg Bowl and Texas-Texas A&M at 3:30 on Black Friday rather than in its traditional sleepy noon slot at Richt-Smart Field at Vince Dooley Stadium. No excuse for a full-throated Dawg invasion of downtown Atlanta.
What do you think about the announced game times? Let us know in the comments.
I believe there is an excuse – Tech controls all the tickets, and looks like rather than giving us a large allotment, they are either going to try and sell them directly to us at inflated prices or allow their season ticket holders to do so….
Was also glad to see Tennessee not at night, although it will probably be HAB when the game starts in the south upper deck….
The $10m guarantee is coming from the MBS people. The Georgia game is being sold separately.
Tech season ticket holders get priority to the Georgia game, but the tickets will go through MBS.
The presale looks like it ends today through Ticketmaster.

Well, I have not seen any communication on our end about purchasing different “levels” of tickets, as is customary for neutral/bowl games, which leads me to think all the “visitors” tickets are going to be shoved into the upper deck. Maybe a Magill member could let us know….
PPS The decreasing availability of road tickets in general (six figure score for Auburn and Tenn.) is ridiculous!
I’m with you, 79! I’ve been getting tickets since 1980 and for the longest time used to get all the away games.First casualty was Auburn about 3 cycles ago. Bama, Tx, LSU, nada! TN, this year nada for the first time. Used to get 50 yd tix in Jacksonville. Now they’re UNDER the stadium!
I liked the Tech game being at night.
I would prefer it at 3:30 and on Saturday. Not as cold and not getting home after midnight. Don’t get me wrong I love night games. That game has a funky vibe in Athens due to the students.
Ah see I don’t go to many games and would never go to the Tech game because it’s smack in the middle of the best deer hunting. So it being cold and all that doesn’t matter to me as I’ll be in the deer stand. And if it’s at night I don’t have to watch it glancing at my phone while I keep my eyes open for a big buck.
Week 2 looks to be a good September Saturday to spend at the beach.
Kansas and Missouri getting back together could be fun. That is truly a hatefest.
We’ll find out if some of the OU preseason hype is real or not.
Remember UK beat Ole Miss last year IIRC.
Other than that, a lot of nothing.
2 3:30 games have moderate interest which works out great to be coming back to the room. If they’re good watch the 2nd half, if not nothing lost. Head to a place with TVs for the 730 game.
Thread hijack: Charlie at the NCAA wants to add more teams to March Madness…up to 74 or 76! Sankey claims SEC cootball coaches want to go to 16. Our beloved Senator was spot on with his prediction.
Glad they are announcing times early so people can plan.
Agreed, this is what we thought would be a benefit to have games broadcasted by one entity. It’s probably the only benefit, but at least we have it.
Those GT season tickets aren’t going to buy themselves.
3:30 is my favorite time slot for attending home games. If the Dawgs are away and I’m not going, then I enjoy drinking bourbon and watching a night game, but I do feel for anyone having to drive home afterwards if they attended the game. I can’t stand noon or 1:00 games unless we’re playing a no-name team that we know we’re going to easily stomp and I can comfortably get on to other things from. I especially hate going to the Benz at night and having to get home from downtown at midnight, but I’ll do it, if allowed to.
