You know when you see this:
You’re bound to see a proclamation like this:
Kirby is on a recruiting tear as of late. NIL and all, he’s still owning it. More on the latest Dawg commit:
Ryan Day can keep on adding recruits, but truth be known, he’s still got nothing to show for it going in to his sixth season as the Buckeyes head coach. To be fair, it took Kirby six seasons, so maybe he’s due and everyone’s offseason predictions have it down to a Kirby-Day 2.0 matchup in the Championship.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. After all, we’ve got Clemson up first with their “we don’t need no stinking portal” HC and Roll Tide Willie not too far after. And Kentucky at night in Lexington the week before.
So question for you all…what’s our biggest challenge heading in to the 2024 season?
Establishing an offensive identity.
Maintaining focus for the tough, but not premier games.
Peaking for the really big games.
It is really going to come down to how many players we can play in the games that aren’t @ Bama or @ Texas.
Can we rest our stars/starters late against teams like Clemson, Auburn, Kentucky, Florida?
How deep are we when the game is still in question?
The more attempts Stockton has the better our season will be. We need some unexpected yawners in there. Its a long slog and the challenge is how can we get production and snaps out of about 55 players or so while also not jeopardizing execution? I don’t think we’re going to have a safety valve this year where we go: “ok, nothing works today, throw it to Brock, let him win it and we can work on it next week.” If someone challenges us we’re going to need to be “all hands on deck” and not have liabilities everywhere except the first team. I would very much like the old Bobo that rtdb show up this year. I’d like to see a little more physicality out of the offense. We need to dictate to the defense, not be dictated to.
We can’t expect to go win in these really hostile places where they want to beat us more than breathe if we’re a tired team or one without confidence.
We need to have an elite and earned arrogance about ourselves and be focused and fresh.
Damn Derik, just say “everything!”
Mudcat’s Lamborghini.
Understanding the roster shelf wasn’t bare when CKS accepted the UGA football HC position, the current suckeye hc took over that position having been on the staff of corch for a couple of years, soooooo, there existed no need to reshape a potential championship program, moving forward, CKS is “Da Man”, all others shall look in amazement, wondering, “why can’t we be like that”…tosu can’t, won’t, ain’t gonna’ happen any time soon, tosu will do battle with losses to meeshigun as their yearly highlight, forgetting UGA football is your battle you don’t want any part of, on a yearly basis, oh, and their drum line wearing those raspberry beret isn’t it either…GO DAWGS!!
Saw that band in ’93 in Ohio Stadium (was dating a tosu girl). All I heard was how awesome the band was, and “dotting the I” was the best thing in bandom. Needless to say, she didn’t appreciate my critique of that lame spectacle. We didn’t last much longer. Met a LSU girl at the start of ’94, and we’ve been together since. And we’ve raised 2 Dawg fans for good measure.
Seeing them dot the I in MBS was pretty cool.
The fact they don’t have drop dead gorgeous auxiliary groups made me think, “What’s up with that?”
Thought #22 dotted an eye vs tosu or left an impression or caused much depression, shit, he put that guy into submission protocol…GO DAWGS!!
Getting rid of Derek.
Staying healthy. Total confidence in our coaches and players.
If Deboer is for real, it’s Bama; if not it’s Texas…
Opponent wise it’s Bammer. To me it all begins and ends with the defensive line. If we are dominant on the defensive line this is going to be a fun season.
Yep. We’ve got the tools to win on offense, but the defensive front has got to take control in the big games.
Staying healthy #1. Improved HVAC rate on defense #2. Staying focused on today’s task #3. With 18-22 year olds getting paid now that may be the most difficult job. Total confidence Kirby is on that one.
That was Havoc before autocorrect make it HVAC.
getting and staying healthy in that defensive secondary…last year our RBs and receivers were banged up a lot…right now our secondary is banged up and a little depleted…that’s where I’m most concerned
staying healthy will be the biggest challenge…on paper I like how we stack up against Bama and Texas…but both are road games…I know me, I’ll sweat Bama the most because it’s early in the season and once we get past them TX, Old Piss, and even Good Old Rotten Crotch…they’ll all offer different challenges for different reasons…but we’ll get through them…I think our offense will play lights out this year
Dawgs toughest opponent will be the Univ of Ga football team…
2nd place…barners(they are going to be better than expected and they played us tough at their crib last yr)
3rd place…ole piss(laner going to lane and if his D is better they may be a tough out in oxford especially after we have taken down the elephants and tejas)
I just think Kirby has these guys full attention and will use the three point snub sec loss as a « they think we are a 7-5 team » to have those boys ready to explode each saturday. can’t wait. let’s go fuck some sec foes shit up!
Barners are my biggest concern. They always play us tough.
I just don’t see Old Piss improving that much just because they’ve picked up a couple of better players from the portal. I don’t remember the numbers but the broadcast crew showed how many 4/5 stars UGA had vs how many they had and it wasn’t even close. They might give us a game early but I think we blow them out like last year.
Injuries, it all depends on who gets hurt and when. We have depth at some positions but not at others. Here’s hoping our 2nd string guys are better than their first string guys. It’s a long shot when your talking about Bama, Texas, Ole Piss and Tennessee.
Alabama, we need to get them out of our head.
Well, obviously the schedule is brutal. We could be much better this year and the record won’t show it. Fortunately, we should have a good shot at the tournament.
As for team challenges, I think the team goes as DL goes. I do think Kirby is on the mutha so I’m not too worried there.
For offense, we have so many weapons it will be fun seeing who steps up each week.
How effective are our team leaders? Our best years come with senior-heavy rosters and/or with some strong team leaders. Dawgs have the talent & the coaches. Kirby always says when he’s got leaders in the roster, good things happen.
Bobo.
Ole Miss is getting way more respect than they deserve. Auburn too. Auburn last year was more about us than them. It was just a weird game. They happen.
Here’s some else people never seem to think about when they look at a schedule before the season starts; by late September or early October the schedule is going to look totally different. Happens every year. There’s always a team on our schedule that people were fretting about who ends up not being that good or has a bunch of weird injuries or something. Every single year. Texas might end up not even being good. Or Alabama might be that team. One of them is going to not live up to the hype. Then there will be some team that nobody is thinking about that people will be stressing over later on in the season.
I’m going to enjoy the ride. Them Dawgs is hell and some team is going to have to show me they’re better before I believe it.
Ole Miss has some good transfer players … when the going gets tough or the injuries pile up, will the Rebels go full Orange Bowl FSU and start bailing by the time we play them? If so, we boat-race them again.
Auburn doesn’t have the players this year other than that freshman WR … if we are who we think we are, we’re going to beat them soundly. 15 grew up on the Plains that day.
Texas and Bama are going to be tough outs. The Horns play their biggest game of the year the week before we roll into Austin. It would be excellent for the Red River Shootout to be a 4 quarter+ affair while we host the Bizarro Dogs. We and Bama both have off weeks before the showdown.
We are going to beat Texas. I not even worried about it.
Them Dawg is Hell!
My wife bought me a T-shirt with that on it for my birthday this year.
