Here I was hoping for no more offseason shenanigans, then this happens.

Not sure what’s behind the paywall, but it sounds like a serious injury from some recreational free wheeling, and, like that, the two biggest transfers for Smart in 2026 will be MIA.
Good thing we have a solid running back room…for now.
Bobo…time to employ the tight ends. Regularly.
Is Richard LeConte back as a GA?
LeCounte. Stupid autocorrect
Who is the other transfer you refer to and why is he out?
Guessing Riddle who was out on drug charges, but I believe those have been dismissed now.
The edge rusher from Auburn who blew out his knee in the spring..
Ah! I had forgotten that. Very true.
Amaris Williams, was supposed to help on the edge. Of course, so was Modozie, but…anyway, Williams blew his knee in spring practices
Fwiw, the internets seem to think the Dowdle thing happened awhile back. Hopefully, thats true and means it wasn’t too serious.
It appears he was in a serious car wreck as a freshman in Eugene a few years ago.
Occurred in late spring and was serious, from what I’ve read. Looking forward to Kirby’s “hope to get him back” comment next week.
Word I am hearing is, his football career is over.
Ah, 3 wheelers. Brings back some bad memories .Hopefully no one has an operational 3 wheeler nowadays. Sales of 3 wheelers were banned in 1988. When I was in medical school , rotating on the trauma service, in a one month period, I saw 3 devastating injuries, all on boys 12-15 yo. One had a broken neck and died. 2 had mangled legs. One of those had a leg amputated and the other had a foot amputated.
I had a BLAST on 3-wheelers back in the day! Luckily, I never got hurt. I’d love to have another one.
Just this week had a dear friend who’s 12 yo son was killed on an ATV. He was an experienced rider too. Goes to show that you can’t have enough respect for ATV’s; I seldom drive my Honda SXS, a Pioneer 700, over 15-20mph even though its capable of much more.
I read he has recovered but won’t be able to play but it was on SECRant so not sure how accurate that is.
I’ve heard from some legit sources that his football career is over. Damned shame.
Terrible for him if true.
A lesson to be learned for every athlete.
1) If your body and the unique talents it possesses are your ticket to lifetime financial security, don’t use these machines or participate in activities like skiing that can take it away in an instant. No, that doesn’t mean lock yourself away either. Find something outdoors that can get the competition itch scratched without putting your future at risk.
2) You are getting a college education virtually for free. Take advantage of that in case you can’t make it as a professional athlete. Don’t go major recommended by your athletic advisor in some area that’s useless but maintains your eligibility. Get a real education and have a backup plan.
These guys act like they are invincible. All of that can be taken in an instant.
