I Want Out

Two years ago, Clemson and Florida State were exploring ways to get out of the ACC. The conference image and brand was perceived to drop the Seminoles out of the CFP, and this year both Miami and Notre Dame took issue with the conference, which graciously is handing Miami all the CFP money they earn instead of redistributing it to the conference teams.

Who, the, would actually want to join the ACC? You may want to sit down for his one.

My, how the mighty have fallen. Sad to say, but neither would probably do much better in the conference that has posted a 9-4 post season record and has a team in the championship game.

But you do you, Gators.

  1. How many millions would they lose annually for doing so. FU and company might be dumb but that $$ kind of math they comprehend.

  2. South Carolina and Mississippi State have much deeper structural problems than their conference membership. They just do not have enough recruiting base to consistently compete.
I doubt Florida’s situation would improve either. It used to be king of the state. Now there are how many schools competing for the state of Florida’s ample recruits?

    • I agree that there are structural issues at SC an Miss St but it runs deeper than just recruiting base. Clemson and now Ole Miss have proven elite in those states.

Would either of these two schools excel in the ACC? I think SC would do well there. Maybe not take them to the promised land but would certainly make for a better opportunity.

I think the bigger question is would the SEC be OK giving up the SC market? And if no, do you think they’d try to back door swap for Clemson? I don’t see a world where SEC would give up Florida market, but I think same scenario exists with swap Florida and FSU.

      • Wasn’t Sackerlina in the ACC years ago and then they went Independent? I believe that’s the only conference title they’ve ever won. Maybe they should go back.

While we’re at it, can we give Texas 8&4, Longwhorns, Land Thieves, and Mizzou back to the Big 12?

      • I would take Clemson over South Carolina. But Florida (FTMF despite what
I’m about to say) is not a good trade for FSU. We can call football a wash. Baseball was when 11 was there but not any more. After that, I think the only place FSU has an advantage is circusing.

  3. What the hell are they disgruntled about? The fact that they all sucked this year in football. That seems to be a you problem; Handbags, Lamecocks and Bizarro Dogs.

  4. Speaking of “legacy”, imaging flushing 100 years of it down the drain ’cause you are going through (what you hope) is a downturn; sadly for you, the rest of us call it “normalcy”! Enjoy the trips back to Boston and New Jersey, Yanks!

  5. If Kirby runs their bum arses completely out of the SEC, it will be the greatest sports/cultural achievement, ever.

    • Hialt….
      Almost,
I think the greatest is when VD (Vince Dooley) forced Boobie Dudd and the north ave. trade school to quit the SEC because of VD (0-3 in 1964, 1965, 1966).
The sumbiches are still suffering from VD!!

      • Thanks for the reminder. I’m even more fired up because we got the blueprint!!!

  6. I doubt this is true. What’s there to be disgruntled about? None of them would get the payouts that they’re getting now and they all have other sports that have won championships recently.

  7. That’s pretty laughable. The ACC can barely afford their own teams, let alone pay the SEC for the grant of rights of three of their teams.

  8. I’d prefer the “Can Confirm” guy has more than 561 followers and wasn’t a parody account. Although, A LOT of accounts are parody and just don’t know it…

  9. January used appliance sale! Two for one! Buy eUSC and get Missouri for free! Special Texas (There’re back!) and OU 2fer! Missy St and your pick of either TAMU, Vandy or Lane Kiffen! Hurry while supplies last!

  10. Trade USC for Clemson and UF for FSU. Done. Would barely notice the difference.
