This is sort of true … we do think about them one week a year as little brother thinks about us 52 weeks a year. Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. Dan Magill called them the enemy. It’s the game I hate most to lose. This Georgia senior class has an opportunity to finish their careers undefeated against the traditional big 3 plus Clemson, Tennessee, and South Carolina. We need to be ready to start fast and remove all hope they have to pull the upset.
In honor of our content creator in perpetuity who did not care for the Jacketasses, here are a few of the greatest hits on the opponent … enjoy.
Let’s get to the preview.
When Georgia Has the Ball
As mentioned in the first look post, the Georgia offense likely will have opportunities in the passing game to create explosive play opportunities. Also, they gave up over 200 yards rushing to the offensive juggernauts of UNC and NC State. If the offensive line makes this game a dealer’s choice type of game for Mike Bobo and Carson Beck, the Dawgs should be able to control the game and get to 30+, which, as most people know, is the magic number for Georgia being practically unbeatable. I look for the Georgia tight end group to have another big night in the passing game as the match-up nightmares for Fech’s linebackers. This should enable the Georgia running game to get going as the linebackers will have to respect having the ball thrown over their head to keep the chains moving.
When Georgia Tech Has the Ball
Their best shot to pull the upset is the Miami blueprint, long drives that suck the life out of the game clock and end in points and opportunistic defense. That means the front 7 needs to play one of their best games of the season, and everyone need to play their assignments and tackle well … something that didn’t happen last Saturday. Their coaches know they have no chance against us if they get into 3rd and long with any consistency especially early in possessions. Winning first down is likely to be very important tonight to force them into situations where our superior athletes can cause havoc.
What Will Happen
Tonight is not the time for a slow start because anything can happen if this game goes to the 4th quarter undecided. I really do love the match-up of the Georgia offense against their defense. Protect the ball and make the plays that will be there. No cheap field position. No red zone field goals. Force their offense to keep up with us. Win first down and get off the field when the opportunity presents itself.
Kirby is much more focused on this game than anyone probably knows. I have a distinct feeling that practice all last week was focused on these guys and game planning for them.
Dawgs are focused and get it done. It may not be pretty at times, but superior athletes eventually win especially at home with an involved crowd.
Final Score: Georgia 38, Enemy 20
I like the way you think EE and heartily agree. And some advice to those of you who are planning to get vaccinations, don’t get 3 at one time. 🤕🥴🤢
Dude, when I enlisted and went to basic they shot us full of all kinds of stuff and I felt like ass for a week on top of all the drill sergeant antics! You hit a nerve there, lol.
Sound familiar; a very long line entering a Quonset hut where there were no less than 10 medics lined up on each side of the aisle, and each one held a pen in one hand and a pneumatic hypodermic in the other. You were injected roughly ten times in each shoulder. After exiting said building, a drill sergeant put you in the “front leaning rest position” and gave you “two zero private.” Good times
From the movie Lawrence of Arabia, “No prisoners!”
If we see the defensive front play like they did against Texas, this will be a blowout. If we tackle poorly in the run game like last week, we don’t close out until late in the game. GATA!
Good call on third down defense, and I think it goes both ways. Don’t unnecessarily create third-and-longs for yourselves but force them for Tech. Georgia can win game a lot of ways. Tech needs Georgia to have bad eye discipline and tackle poorly on defense, lose composure and for Carson to turn the ball over. Just don’t see that happening at home.
Not to get off too thread too much and not to still up any emotions. Just looking for any insight. I am somewhat ambivalent about the subject but there has been quite a bit of talk about the Dawgs being in black jerseys tonight. Any truth to that rumor?
I am ok with just the jersey being black, but that’s my limit and we haven’t worn black since Cincinatti I believe. And I don’t believe in curses. We are like 5-1 or 6-1 in black jerseys if memory serves.
I should post after the second cup and be sure that I am awake. Forgive all the typos.
Personally, I am opposed to any message to the bugs that they matter.
I’d rather show up in practice gear.
The only two times I can recall that dismissiveness turning into a focused rage were:
11/25/00 when they won their first legitimate game in their three game win streak. That was 365 days of immense unending hatred. O’Leary then takes and loses the ND job. CMR shows up and once again fortune re-establishes that God is, in fact, a Bulldog.
11/29/08 the first game vs. CPJ. There was a lot of hating the bugs that offseason for me. I remember us showing up the next fall vs. their #7 rated team in the land knowing our unranked asses were going to set the universe right. I had no doubts.
I thought last week’s game was good prep for a lot of what we will see tonight. You don’t see very many teams trying to rtdb first anymore, sadly… If the crowd and the offense shows up we’ll be fine. Best way to make them uncomfortable is to score touchdowns while forcing a few punts and or fga’s.
If the crowd is also on point on a cold miserable night, they may quit and start dreaming of a carquest bowl berth or wherever it is that a bunch of losers go in December.
If our offense is struggling it could get way too damn interesting.
Will it rain? I hope not.
We need to be able to throw the ball.
No turn overs.
It’s beautiful in the Classic City.
