This is a hell of an image of the heat in Athens, no?

Just how hot will it be in Athens on Saturday? Well, here’s your Refugee PSA.
Grill, drank, or just hanging out for a tailgate this weekend, just be sure you’ve got some electrolytes and water packed in that cooler.
Stay safe and stay hydrated, Refugees!
The hottest game I ever saw in Athens was the 1999 LSU game, the 23-22 thriller. It was so hot my face was the same red as my shirt. I swore off of September Sanford games after that.
Turns out the game was on October 2nd that year. Brutal.
The hottest game ever was in Tuscaloosa in 2002. Georgia was man enough to win in an oven. They ran out of all liquids except mt dew and zero ice at the concession stand.
Amen to that…brutally hot day.
Did Saban / ESPN pick the start time?
No, I think UGA did because the game is streaming only.
I’m not sure I understand why they didn’t pick a night slot.
If you’re going, take that unopened water bottle with you and use the refilling stations (bottle must be 20 oz or less). I’m probably going to empty my golf bag of the Powerade powder packets.
Gonna stay home for first two games. Cannot take the heat. Hopefully the Oklahoma game will be evening. Kids got the tickets . One set coming home to watch with the old folks, so that makes Mama happy! Just don’t get anybody hurt and get outa there with a win! Go Dawgs!!!.
Looks blazing. I used to pride myself on training at high noon, so much the glory of youth. The older I get the better I wuz. wink emoji.
The Gentleman’s idear about grabbing a Cafe Racer Burger and a cold Classic City Lager keeps sounding better. Heyell, I might party like it’s 1981 and just lay under the fan in GringoManor and listen to it on radio with lots & lots of ice for my beverages. I might try in see if the Artificial Intelligence can run a 10 second delay and translate the audio into a Munson Cast. It edits my work emails into communication that keeps me out of HR’s purview…
My hottest games? Any day game in Columbiahole, SC. Even the residents say the city is built on top of Hell.
Take the under. Will be a ton of substitutions on both sides and mistakes. Run to the shade once we break 30 as the game will be over by then.
My wife decided not to go when I told her they would not allow her to take her beach umbrella to her seat.
Tickets sold this morning thankfully. Let some other sucker pay $100 to sit in 100 degree heat and watch a bad HBCU football program.
The hottest game I remember at Sanford was Clemson in 1986. We lost on on a last-second field goal – I think the game temp at kickoff was close to 95.
The hottest game I ever attended was UGA/USC in Columbia in 1988. It was a JP televised noon start. The heat index was 114. The concessions stands ran out of every cold beverage and ice early in the game. We were beaten soundly. The drive back was due west into what felt like the gates of hell or the surface of the sun … it seemed like it took 4 days to get home.
Shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops. That was the uniform for the afternoon September games.. Didn’t matter how hot it was. I spent summers digging holes at apt complexes in Augusta to plant trees for a nursery that did major landscaping. Augusta in the summer gives Columbia a run for its money. Heat didn’t bother me at all. I sure miss those days about 40 years ago. Heat just crumbles me now.
