Here’s a little Saturday morning video that will get your heart beating.
As I watched, I had a bit of a moment where I had a nostalgic moment where I really missed the bulkier uniforms of days gone by, particularly the scenes of Hampton and Hearst. The thicker uniform setup, with some memories of neck rolls and massive lower arm pads, seemed to suggest a harder nosed, grind it out kind of mindset of football gone by.
How about you? Do you miss the older uniforms? Was it really the bulk, or was it the block numbering?

I’m guessing the new gear is safer all around than what they wore back then. Last night in MBS should remind everyone that this game has risk and that every player is one play away from a potentially life-changing injury.

I like ’em all.
I loved most of it, but was also reminded of how much I dislike Scott Howard. I just hate that guy’s voice, his phrases are tiresome, and his enthusiasm, which might be 100% real, still sounds contrived to me.
I like Scott Howard. He is dawg 100%… looking forward to hearing what Josh Brock adds to the broadcast this year in place of EZ… also, I think most would agree that when the day comes we do not have Scott Howard calling the games that the job should just go to Jeff Dantzler. He is great!
I miss football that was physical vs candy assed rules to let the offenses score 40 a game. I miss silver pants too.

I miss the tear away jerseys. Guys going to the sidelines looking like they had been shipwrecked.
Like to see the defense wear them for the Bamma game so we could see all the holding.
If we did that, we would have to add a HUGE line item to the budget. The defense would have to replace most jerseys ever play.
Not even to mention Robert Edwards, Musa Smith, Thomas Brown, Kregg Lumpkin, Elijah Holyfield, Kenny MacIntosh….
Man we’ve been spoiled.
I miss the neck rolls on a big fullback. The looked like a Mack truck to a DE.
I do not miss the bulkier uniforms. I prefer the modern ones.
