I have mentioned here before that my dear old daddy was an Auburn fan. I was home on leave from the Marine Corps and he and I were watching this game. I remember exactly where I was standing in my momma’s house when he decided it was all over right before the ball was snapped on this play. I said, “Well we got time for one more. Let’s see what happens here. Oh…wait…ooooooooooooh. Damn! Dawgs win!”

Those two wins over Tejas really carried me through the long off-season. Hitting ’em with the ole Okie Doke on the fake punt was awesome. We took this game over in the 2nd half—should have never gone to overtime.

I took my nephew to the game. He is a Columbus native and so many from that town go to AU. We parked and I walked him by the oak trees with all the toilet paper draped over them. I said now this is Auburn. He got a sick look on his face. The game cinched him going to UGA.
