Friday afternoon at Mercedes Benz Stadium, the Dawgs can take one step closer to throwing the Drought on the ash heap of college football history. The Dawgs look to continue their late-season momentum pointing to the College Football Playoff and possibly a chance to defend their SEC championship. Let’s get to the first look.
Series record
Georgia leads the series 72-41-5 and holds a 7-game winning streak dating back to 2017 (damn Covid for 2020).
Last meeting
In a rivalry game for the ages, the Dawgs come roaring back late to send the game to overtime before winning 44-42 in 8 overtime “periods.” The Dawgs fall behind 17-0 at halftime before clawing back in the 4th quarter thanks to a late fumble caused by Dirty Dan Jackson.
Nate Frazier wins the game on a two-point run up the middle that is a foreshadowing of Trevor Etienne’s winning overtime TD the following Saturday.
Gambling degenerate facts
The Dawgs are currently a 13.5 point favorite with a 59.5 point total. Georgia is a -750 favorite on the money line.
Interesting statistic: 6.05 (average yards per play defended)
For a team in the top 25, that statistic is wretched especially given their strength of schedule at 61. The Jacketasses have played with fire most of the season as their offense has found ways to bail them out throughout the season.
You could easily argue that the Georgia offense is the best offense they will face this season.
Early outlook
The matchup of the Georgia offense and the Georgia Tech defense is significantly tilted toward the Dawgs. Bobo and Stockton should be able to play dealer’s choice for much of the day exploiting the Fech defense, which has struggled to stop the run against the likes of Colorado, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, NC State, Boston College and Pitt.
The big question is whether the Georgia defense gets a sufficient number of stops to create some space on the scoreboard forcing Faulkner to play from behind.
Assuming the Dawgs take care of the ball, I see the Dawgs winning and covering the spread. If not, this will be a 4 quarter fight.
The Dawgs are better at every position on the field and should be ready to give the in-state rival our best shot.
What’s your thought on Wednesday morning about Friday? Let us know in the comments.
I hope that our defense is as sick of hearing about King and Faulkner as we are. A couple of turnovers and an early lead would sure be nice.
Whoever said they was renting that nice stadium for us yesterday still has me cracking up.
I work with several tech grads, to a person, they are assholes. The only one I ever worked with that was a decent guy was Kevin Butler’s son in law. He’s a good guy and was a good golfer and softball player. I still can’t figure out how he ended up at tech.
NERDS!! Enough said.

GTP Refugees = elite
We seem to have stopped allowing QBs to look like Heisman candidates when they play us – we certainly don’t want to give King any more room – so that’s a good start. Oddly enough (of the few games I’ve seen), I was more impressed with last year’s Nerd squad. I can’t put my finger on why, maybe because their 2025 defense stinks like a soiled diaper left in the sun. Faulkner may not be able to bail them out. Plus, even though I’d rather have CJ available, I LOVE how our D is trending.
I’m assuming that it could be close for awhile. Then, the anaconda death grip will appear halfway through the third quarter and Kirby will begin choking the cosplay glitter out of them.

1993 UGA vs. Tech fight.
I still talk about this fight. Goof was slinging linemen away from the fracas. I get the running up the score causing butt hurt, but you’re supposed to stop the other team….fech couldn’t.
Was there. Glorious day.
Blaming the fight on UGA was ridiculous. Shame on the GT players for their lack of composure.
Yeah like somebody said already, if they are as sick of hearing Haynes King spoken of like he’s Tua as I am, we will be fine.
I don’t like this game being in the Benz because it gives Tech more money. That being said, I want Dawg fans making it a House of Bad Word Horrors for Tech! Blacking the place out would be hilarious (I know I’m a sic basterd, lol) Also, I’ve heard from some DGDs that they’re going and they’re fired up to go and prices ain’t bad. Maybe more Dawgs in attendance is a good thing. Go Dawgs! And nice lil Drought Tech had a zillion years ago, shame if anything happened to it….
Our speed on the carpet at Benz will be even more effective
Great warmup for what could be the first of three appearances in the Benz to end the season. DL front may get pushed around and beaten early but hopefully we sell out in stopping the run and dare wonderboy to pass…he’s terrible and has no receivers. Up two scores at the half we should easily pull away in the 2nd half and hit the 40 mark. Worst case scenario is this goes slow into the 3rd like the Texas game. Does Kirby have another wrinkle up his sleeve? Hope he doesn’t need it.
I disagree on the recivers. Isiah Canion is pretty freaking good.
One, cover the spead. Like Texas sized. Two, score 52 points or more. The points probably won’t happen cause Kirby can be nice, but a guy can dream can’t he?
Beat the shit out of em please.
If we don’t give the nerds our best shot, I’m going to be disappointed.
Boatrace them nerds. Always and forever.
All gas, no brakes, make them quit. FTMFs
Ah, the one week per year when we pretend that GT is one of our biggest rivals. How quaint.
Outside of one fluke shared title, they have been irrelevant since 1963 when Bobby Dodd took his ball and went home.
Tape your knees men, and get prepared for a return trip to the Benz in 8 days.
My inner Munson is aggravating me today. We do have a fairly good history at the Benz in particular and against the Gnats in general on any field. But this game is the last chance for Tech to salvage anything useful from this season. No ACC championship, no major wins, probably a minor bowl game is all that’s left for them. So, they will feel like they NEED this game. We don’t need much of anything from this except not to get boat-raced. So, I am worried we won’t be up for it enough. Kirby has to get them fired up.
And the superstitious part of me has this little nugget eating at me: For the past six years UGA and GT have competed in a duplicate bridge tournament the week before the football game. GT won the first five competitions, but the one played last weekend was won by UGA, breaking the Tech streak. Bad omen, or just more proof of UGA superiority? You tell me which.
Red & Black Friday
That was a cool reel! Nice use of Pink Floyd! I’m thankful today and everyday for this glorious run of greatness the Dawgs have been on! Happy Turkey Day, Everyone!
AMEN, brother & I am also Thankful for this site & all of your opinions & insight.
Have A Great Day
Still think it’s a 2-score win but I’m going with 30-21 because King and the Faulkner misdirection will get his against our young defenders now getting significant PT after injuries. I just don’t think Tech’s defense can stop Branch, Thomas and the TEs. And, we run this state.
