Everything Must Go

Do you like those highlight reels from the Georgia media team? Of course you do! They know you do!

Now you’ll have to pay money to see them!

Why do I get the distinct feeling that radio broadcasts are about to find their way to a pay per listen medium? Will Glory Glory be create a subscriber only channel where Bulldawg fans can pay to hear the games?

Why would I not be surprised to see them dome Sanford and make fans pay to breathe the air?

Of course, some folks are having fun with it, but I’m not sure if they’re giving Josh more ideas that could cost us down the road.

What a time to be alive.

  1. I guess the ever-rising costs of tickets were just the tip of the iceberg, as many of us have warned, for years. Subscribe now to have instant access to all Instant Replays! Sign up early and receive 2 complimentary restroom breaks! not to be used during any other game, passes are non-transferable, some restrictions may apply

  2. “make fans pay to breathe the air?” I used that that wisecrack about Spirit Airlines may it rest in peace. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are passing 10,000 feet altitude. If you would like oxygen sufficient to support life it will be $10 plus tax per passenger. Credit cards only.”

    • Good gawd, Spirit airlines was a total fucking school bus. I only flew them once. It was to some nasty place like Newark, NJ. Crammed in there with 120 greasy yankees with that damn hideous accent. It was miserable.

  3. Their arse will go broke before I pay to see a highlight. Bless my dad’s old heart, I remember him saying, what damn fool will pay to get a bottle of water?

  4. I saw people that I respect and know are Dawg fans unfollow the UGA socials after this came out. I do enough with my Hartman contribution and tickets (I’m not a Magill member, but I’m guessing they receive free GG access). I will not pay my hard-earned money I can use to help my kids to fund a player’s NIL. I’m not going to buy or watch these games that were supposed to be on campus and are likely moving to neutral sites. If that makes me a bad fan, I’m proud to be guilty as charged.

They are blatant about the fact they perceive us as wallets to emptied rather than customers and friends of the program.

      • We have Otis on our side, performing the dirty work of extricating those lovely Fucking commercials from the game day replay, may not be the highlights you are looking for, he makes navigating for those highlights easier than a CKS question and answer session, a caveman can do it….GO DAWGS!!

  5. Yeah they can kiss ass. I don’t go to games anymore because it costs way more than I am willing to pay. The working man has been priced out of all of it at this point. I watch the games on TV until rifle season comes in and then I watch on my phone innthe deer stand. They have made it clear they don’t need or want me and my kind and I feel the same about them.

  6. Until there is an enforced cap on spending this type of money grab will continue.

It’s reported LSU has spent about $50,000,000. buying this year’s team. Maybe that’s the main reason league presidents want to kick them out for cause. There is a breaking point for this seems we’re on the way to finding it.

  7. This has been happening slowly over the past few years. Just ramping up now. They have sold their soul to the money devil . Don’t really care about us long time Real Dawgs, that wine and cheese crowd is helping sweep us out the door! I will not pay for videos and l damn sure not gonna pay to hear Danzler tell all his buddies in St Simons or anywhere else hello. Don’t want to hear about his dogs either. Oh , they might make us pay to tap the steel beam coming in under the bridge! Still love’m, but I’m just about done!!

    • LOL, was he namechecking people during the actual radio broadcast?
Did he also do the postgame show with Kevin and/or the Sunday morning show? Sorry I was just too lazy/jaded to listen….

  8. I had to move from club section beside old presidents box due to my mamas death and go back to my seats in section 131. I got there at my usual time 90 min before kickoff and the rap noise and everything else that came out of the scoreboard speakers was so loud i couldnt carry on a conversation with the Tx fan i brought, who had only been to one college game at Troy, until just before kickoff. Worst experience i ever had and i have to endure it the rest of the season but will bring hearing protection. I started classes there fall of ‘70 and havent missed more than handfull of games since but this state of college football is about to turn me off.

    • The canned noise is horrible and really ruins the experience. I want my ears ringing from the cheers of the crowd.

Ear plugs are required at games now.

      • Totally agree, its so loud and distracting you can’t talk to the person next to you during breaks in the action (of which there are plenty)….

      • Watching it on TV it seemed like they played music from the time each play went dead until the offense broke the huddle. Not the band. Some shitty rap music or some such being played onnthe PA. I don’t care that this is what young people want. It sucks.

  9. May this be a bigger, faster, more complete failure than CNN+.

Playing directional schools in the heat of the day for TV money is one thing. Going to the software model of “pay an additional subscription fee to unlock what used to be a basic function”? I’m out, bro.

Hike ticket prices? Ok. Hike the contributions? Ok. Create a layer above Hartman to let people jump the line via the Magill Society? Ok. Push tailgating off campus? Ok. Set up highly monetized tailgate spots on campus? Ok. The plebes can park a mile away, in a deck. Tired of bleachers? Here’s a ridiculous rental “chair back” seat.

What did we get for that? The football program is on a historic run. Some badly needed improvements have been made to the stadium. (I admit I don’t get closing off the bridge, and replacing the aluminum benches with chair seats should have been done 20 years ago. Even the pencil necks have partially managed this). But the constant addition of fees, up charges, etc. is the death of 1000 paper cuts. This move is just overreaching in a clumsy way. ll of us are lobters and the pot is boiling.

I realize “but the NIL!” And capital improvements aren’t cheap. But getting treated like a captive wallet in a protection racket kind of sucks. “Nice little game day situation you got here. Be a shame if someone made you park and tailgate a mile off campus, here you in and out like cattle, offered you concession stands manned by hapless HS kids who don’t care and run out of ice by halftime in the hottest part of the season, isn’t making me hate UGA football. It might be making me hate the UGA athletic department and administration. UGA athletics is a top 5 revenue generating program. Is this really necessary?

  10. If only there were a top flight business school nearby that can help study and refute the economic “wisdom” of PE managers who advise to choke the customer until they die to maximize short term profit then dump and sell. There are two conspiracies I now hold to be true…Kirby let’s the team lose a game to get their focus and a cabal of billionaires who want to take over CFB to go pro & private have infiltrated the thinking and actions of the NCAA, presidents and ADs.

  11. just like the early days of the tax-free internet… once they are hooked, then yo ass is cooked… unless the addict fills up his “want to” jar with another interest.
