Back to Work

We are that much closer.

Question is…are the ‘Dawgs that much hungrier this season? And are they healthy?

We need the Thunder from Down Under ready to work, although here’s hoping he’s healthy and spends more time on the bench in 2025 than in 2024.

  1. Hard to believe Thornson’s knee is still bad from how innocuous his fall was in the SECCG.

  2. I would prefer smart ass comments from him about how Gunner Stockton hates Aussies.

    • I believe weed is still not legal in FL, so how did he escape the misdemeanor possession charge?

  3. Not going to jinx RodRob’s horrible health history by commenting on him, but we don’t really need anyone back until week 3. Obviously playing an easy opponent to get j to game speed is ideal, though. And hopefully the 8 weeks between when Kirby made that comment on Thorson and Tennessee week are enough for Brett to get his thunder foot back.

  4. I wonder how long it will be before they start playing games in the guardian caps? I think there may be 1 or 2 players in college or NFL who do it now. Figure with the CTE studies it will be mandatory soon.

    • I think it was U of Wisconsin who did a study on Guardian Caps at the HS level. They found no evidence of improved safety for player concussions.

      • Interesting. I wonder what the CTE rate is in rugby players? Higher or lower than football? We’ll be back to leather helmets in no time…

        • My understanding was soccer had more concussions than football and football more than rugby.

Soccer was from set pieces and the headers that followed. Rugby likely has the most collar bone fractures. High School friend broke his collar bone playing for Georgia Southern. I signed up to play at another college but didn’t get a call. Shortly after I transferred out and was working while going to school, rarely on campus for longer than I was in class.

The other thing to think about in Rugby is more players handle the ball so size is more uniform among players. Football would require a new rules package to play without pads IMO.
