Tribute to Kudzu Hill

I thoroughly enjoyed this, and I hope you do, too.

Nice testament to an understated element of Georgia sports lore.

Go Dawgs!

  1. Absolutely, the DAWGS & The Railroad Tracks back in the day, Kudzo hill & the Diamond DAWGS!! Traditions & sports lore that make UGA Sports & God’s Country in ATHENS GEORGIA special.

  2. Spent a lot of time on Kudzu Hill from 2001-2004 while in school. They do a great job up at the houses, but those years when Kudzu Hill was considered outside of the stadium were the glory days. Mack Williams and his bullhorn were hilarious and incredible. God forbid the RF make an error, because there were several dozen drunk dudes on him for the next three innings from about 15 feet away.

I was there the day the old Kudzu Hill died. The AA had taken partial control of the hill and put those bleachers up that you see in the bottom photo. We had been bringing beer in the bottom of our coolers with a couple of cokes and stadium cups visible on top. The gate attendant and the students had a wink-wink relationship and we kept the fun going for the whole 2004 season. Then we hosted the regional and a Clemson family who, for some unknown reason, decided to sit out there complained to the NCAA about us. The next day, the gate guy apologetically searched our coolers and told us we couldn’t bring alcohol inside the fence. From that point on, Kudzu Hill was dry between the RF wall and the brick/green house fences until beer sales started a few years ago, and the students moved up the hill.

  3. What a great video…say fans and alums.

What a missed revenue opportunity…says someone working for Josh.

Guess who will win that battle in the near future.
