Thursday Thought Provoker: The 2026 Georgia Football Schedule

Here it is, and we have start times for the first three games now (note: both cupcakes are at home to start the season):

So for today’s Thought Provoker…which game or games are you most looking forward to…and, what’s your prediction on our record after going through this schedule?

My thought: we have a ceiling of 11-1 and a floor of 10-2. My inner Munson tells me we have to step up and prove we can win at Alabama and Ole Miss before I believe we could go undefeated, so I figure we could slip up with one, if not both, of those games.

Oklahoma at Sanford would be remarkable to go to…I’m hoping it’s a night game. Also, something surreal would be playing at South Carolina in something other than a Mars-level heat typhoon would be something to behold. I’ve never experienced that.

Discuss.

  1. I’m looking forward to the Oklahoma game. It should have the same cachet that the Texas game did last year. Blue blood vs. blue blood.

I do plan to put in for tickets to the Cocktail Party this year. I haven’t been since 2000.

I really want us to put an ass whipping on the trade school to throw the Drought on the ash heap of CFB history.

  2. Are they going to put the Florida game up against trick or treating at 8 o’clock? Inquiring minds want to know…..

  3. The Oklahoma game is the one must attend game this year. I’ve never seen Columbia South Carolina when it’s not 3rd level of Hell hot and humid. It’s almost worth it to go this year almost. Jacksonville is the next must attend game. Little interest in going back to Tuscaloosa or Oxford today. Beating auburn never gets old.

Those last nine games with only one week off look very difficult. How do you stay healthy with such little depth since NIL is my big concern. 10-2 is probably more likely than 12-0.

  4. I’ll make two road games this year. 5.5 hrs to Fayetteville & 9 hrs to Tusca. Two in my backyard nxt yr (2027) — College Station & Austin. Yall can stay at my house!
Bama and Ole Miss gonna be tough. Bama will be breaking in a R-Fr QB. Chambliss carved our ass up Jan 1 — prob does similar this fall. Sooners??? They seem to be ascending. 9-3 wouldn’t shock me.

  5. I’m always excited for football season, but this one has a little more juice since my younger son will be a freshman at UGA. I now have one at Tech and the other in Athens. I’m looking forward to the games a little more this season since they will mean getting to visit my son as well.

    • I’m most looking forward to the Oklahoma, Vandy, Auburn, and Tech games. Oklahoma was always a big game when I was at CU Boulder, Auburn is Auburn, and I am quite interested to see what Kirby dials up for Jared Curtis when he comes between the hedges.

  6. WLOCP, Auburn, Ole Miss, and the nerds. It was sad to see the annual Ole Miss game go away after expansion and recent history has added fuel to that game

I was pumped for OU when it was nonConf but not as much so with them in the SEC. I still don’t think OU or Texas belongs in the SEC and want to beat more so as a result. But it is more a business meeting than a unique may never happen again event.

  7. I think the ceiling is 12-0, but 11-1 is more realistic. Georgia could be favored in every game unless my prediction comes true that the offense tanks because the receivers aren’t very good and Bobo can’t scheme his way around 9 man boxes shutting down the run game.

  8. Need to see comparative schedules but 9-3 is in the table with 2 road and 1 home loss. It’s going to be a grind and we always have more than our fair share of injuries. I’ve lost track…where is the WLOCP being played?
