Monday Musings: Immaculate Receptions

Saw this last night on the Twix:

So today’s Musings is simple: what’s the Georgia version of the Immaculate Reception? Was it Belue to Scott? Bobo to Allen? Greene to Haynes? Stockton to Humphreys? Ohio State missing the kick? Ringo’s pick six?

Discuss.

  1. Belue to Scott for me. Greene to Johnson was close for me, but “Run, Lindsey Run!” wins out because of the distance and the fact it was just a pass to get a first down that turned into a score due to a block and Scott out racing Gators for the score.

The other TD pass plays listed were throws into the end zone and, while low percentage completions maybe, were more likely to be scoring plays than the pass that broke a chair with about a fine inch cushion.

  2. 1965 flea flicker vs Alabama. Dooley beats Bear 18-17. Good thing there was no instant replay review then.

  3. It’s Belue to Scott without a doubt. There is no 1980 title without it. It was a play with about 1% chance of doing what it did … designed for a first down but scores a TD from 93 yards away.

Buck Belue is selling insurance or mortgages in Valdosta without it. Lindsay Scott is remembered for a kickoff return in Baton Rouge but not much else without it.

2021 would have been to end a 79 year drought.

    It’s not even close.

  4. Belue to Scott. We are on the stadium corner, Lindsay was coming our way. Cheering got louder & louder the closer he came. It was fast, but it seemed like slow motion. Gotta be no. 1 !!!!! And then the nerds beat them gold domers and the world was right!!!

  5. Belue to Scott. Every time I watch the replay I still don’t understand how Scott scored on that play. He caught the ball at a stop and still somehow outran the entire Florida defense.
