Your Friday Rage Baiting

We haven’t had a good old argument in the comments in a while, so, here’s some chum for the sharks in the water…

To sum:

Georgia Bulldogs offensive coordinator Mike Bobo received a significant pay increase in February 2026, raising his annual salary to $2.2 million from roughly $1.5 million the previous year. This boost follows Georgia’s consecutive SEC championships, a CFP return, and Bobo being a finalist for the 2025 Broyles Award.

Let me throw kerosene on the fire:

To say that, I’m not doubting Oscar’s evaluation. But where were the spectacular plays on game days (he made a great one in the Sugar Bowl) and why was he not utilized more when healthy? I can recall an old spring practice reel showing the endzone fades from Beck to Young that gave hope he was going to be the jump ball/back shoulder fade solution for Beck like Wims and Holloman was to Jake Fromm. But that never materialized, to the best of my memory.

I’m just going to roll the ball out on the field, y’all crack each others heads in the scrum.

Be civil, scamps.

  1. I’m ambivalent on whether Bobo should be the OC. I trust Kirby on that. Those who think Kirby is just running a jobs program for his friends don’t know what they are talking about.

I do think $2.2m is too much assuming there were no real suitors this offseason (maybe it was his contract).

    • That money’s not going to spend itself.

ALL the coaches are making too much but we pay it, so there it is. Bobo is one of the better OCs in the country and should be paid like it. I’m assuming his pay matches that of some of the other top OCs.

Schumann on the other hand has a lot of work to do, if you ask me. Defense did turn the corner midway through the season so maybe it was just a young team.

  2. Bobo IS NOT worth $2.2mm/yr in any world – bottom line.
I love the high praise for Colby Young. He & Dillon Bell are solid NFL ballers!

  3. Those WR screen calls don’t come cheap Y’all.

Colbie is a badass and was underutilized when he was in but just missed to many games and probably not 100% in others.

I’m not disappointed with the raises. I will be disappointed if Kirby on down don’t self-scout, bring in some new eyes (he has) and continue to make adjustments. There’s a lot we do well and a lot to be fixed.

  4. “I don’t think he’s the right guy, I know he’s the right guy. Like I’ve said multiple times, I don’t really pay much attention to what our fans say, seek, what they feel like,” Smart said prior to the Sugar Bowl. “I don’t respond to them. I don’t work for them. Honestly, my job is to put the best product, the best football team I can out there. I need motivators, leaders of men. I need people who have offensive experience, knowledge. I put him up against anybody in the country because of his knowledge, his experience, what he’s done, the staff he has.”

“I don’t work for them.” Fine KirbDawg, I accept your terms so spare us the dayum lectures and quit demanding us to be FN ATMs. We don’t work for you!

    • Had not seen that quote before, obviously the blurb you highlight is somewhat true, somewhat not – he doesn’t work for us, until he does, and he may not care what the fans think, but he better be aware of what they are thinking….
Rest of the quote I agree with unequivocally…

  5. Kirby decided to pay Bobo per screen pass. Gunner Stockton had about 380 pass attempts in 2025. Approximately 30% were behind the line of scrimmage. That works out to $19,300 per screen pass. Worth every penny 😉

    • Hopefully Gunner improves and sees the field better in year 2 of being the starter and takes more shots down the field. There were too many times where guys were running free where it could be a TD and he throws it 10 yards to someone else.

  6. As long as Mike Bobo is OC of our Dawgs, I’ll wish him all the success in the world.

  7. As I’ve said every season since 2023, Georgia will never win a national championship with Mike Bob as the OC. This is terrible news for all real fans (i.e., not sheep).

  8. People forget that Bobo didn’t become a top coordinator previously until CSS was no longer the O Line coach. I firmly believe our O Line became better this year due to Rauscher. Will he elevate the offensive line? I don’t know — I do know that I felt better about what Bobo can do going forward.
