DGD Doing DGD Things

Gunner Stockton is still, officially, a Dawg.

Per the ON3 Report, it sounds like Gunner took less money so the program could acquire the proper talent to compete for a National Championship.

“Gunner did agree to a deal with UGA for the 2026 season,” his rep, Faryn Healy of ESM, told On3. “He did not feel an announcement was necessary as he is a player who would never consider transferring. He could have earned two to three times more by entering the portal, but Gunner bleeds red and black.

He wanted UGA to have the budget to retain and acquire the talent for the roster needed to compete for another championship. Gunner doesn’t play football at UGA for money. Leading that team is his lifelong dream.”

I’ll take it. Say what you will about mechanics and spotting the man downfield, but I’d imagine Jared Curtis wouldn’t have entertained this altruistic approach to NIL negotiations had he finally inked with the Bulldogs.

  1. This is what true leadership looks like. GS setting an example for his team and for all the money grabbers to see.

  2. Whether Gunner ever wins a national championship (he does have 2 SEC championships – yes, he won that first ring), he is truly a DGD. He’s the guy you want as the face of college football in an NIL world. 19 did the same darn thing. He didn’t even take any collective money, so that cash could go for other parts of the roster.

Who knows what his open market value could be? He has the job he wants and has always desired.

    Good for him (and us).

    • In 2020 I was ran over while driving 70 mph my Goldwing on I-10 outside of Tallahassee FL. Those crooks you talk about (Morgan and Morgan) made it so my retirement is extremely comfortable and my children will make bank when I start my dirt nap. I happen to like Morgan and Morgan. One man’s opinion. All lawyers are crooks, until you need one.

  3. I remember there was a highly decorated gentleman I really looked up to when I was in the service. I got to pick his brain on some things and he told me the hardest thing was to never seek recognition for your actions. Apparently, Gunnar tries to live that way. It’s nice to see.

  4. One more for the Goods Guys. Don’t know if l can take too much of this in one day!! Gunner is a rare breed of Dawg, and happy he is ours. Ga boy all the way. CKS knows!

  5. Fantastic! Great for team leadership and continuity. I will abstain for now from screen passes and 3rd down short yardage support personnel.

  6. Good for Gunner taking a discount to play for the hometown team. Better for Curtis getting more money to play for the hometown team. I can’t hate on a high school kid for not accepting less money to attend my school.
