A Bit of Irony

I’m sure they were hoping this would be Arch, but turns out the Bulldogs had different plans.

I’ll say it’s well deserved. Gunner balled out and even though Arch had a serviceable game, Stockton outdid the Manning prodigy in stellar fashion.

  1. When Gunner consistently sees the downfield guys breaking open, the offense is going to be world class.

    • I think that happens more and more as he learns to trust his blocking more and more.
The O line is the key..the receivers are there…but this offense is making the most of the short and medium passing game.
Kirby seems fond of long, clock eating drives.
And if the long game is there, Bobo is/will probably holding that card back until/if needed.

      • During the 4th quarter, when we reopened the can of whoopass, I asked over on the DawgSports game thread if Bobo was sandbagging during the middle of the game. I know he uses plays to set up later plays. He shows tendencies only to break them later. Your comment reminded me of my expectation that he is holding back until needed.
That 4th quarter was fun. I’m happy to eat some crow on what I said last year about Searles (much more) and Bobo (less). Them Dawgs is HELL.

    • If those guys are actually in the route tree and not just clearing the deep safety in Cover 3…

  2. We have a great qb that is still growing, learning, & always puts the team first.
It is time that the national pundits recognized it.

    • We don’t want him getting too much praise now Jim. Too much praise might just turn into the draft guys propping him up as a high draft pick. We can’t have that; we want him back next year!

I kid of course, but man it would be nice if he returns next year.

    • Some national pundits have been recognizing Gunner. Randy Cross of CBS Sports (who is usually pretty high on UGA anyway) has been calling Gunner a difference maker for several weeks now. Just last night on Read & React Cole and Roman put up a graphic comparing Gunner’s number with the last seven or so QB Heisman winners, and it is very favorable for Gunner. We may not have Herbie and Firebomb yet, but who cares about them?

  3. I saw that last night. I was hoping y’all would catch it. Great bit of irony there. 😀
