I’m guessing that Kirby Smart is just as concerned as we all were by Georgia’s defensive line play last year, and he’s making an addition on thee coaching staff to continue to address it.
Before his most recent stint at Auburn, Brumbaugh was a key member of Tennessee’s coaching staff in 2020. There, he held dual roles as the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, contributing to the Volunteers’ efforts to reestablish a dominant presence in the SEC trenches.
Brumbaugh also made a significant impact during his time at Kentucky, serving as the Wildcats’ defensive line coach from 2013 to 2016. During his four-year tenure in Lexington, he helped develop several standout defensive linemen and played a role in the program’s defensive scheme.
For what it’s worth, the spring portal opens today. In seeing some of the initial portal entries, there’s a healthy number of defensive line and edge players that are hitting the market, including athletes that were the sack leaders for their teams and conferences in 2024. I haven’t seen much in the way of speculation about who is coming and/or going in Athens, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Smart try to add some more talent to the group via the portal.
Should be interesting to see who came away from G Day with the belief that they can find greener pastures in 2025.
Reckon the 2 suspended knuckleheads will be the first out the door?
I praise thee for thyne written prose.
Verily, I appreciate our editors in the comments.
I don’t care for awburn or just about anyone that played there. Erk and Dooley are exceptions. I remember Hines’ helmet hitting his knee and knocking him out of a game.
