Ron Courson, you beautiful son of a gun. Fingers crossed, and Horns down.
If Tate gets a snap, I would be shocked. When he went down, his earliest return was in Jax.
I sure feel like we’re missing Smael…
Texas has three backs out?? Seems like a lot. I bet they don’t have a Cash Jones to sub in.
Is the Bond injury real or some psychological ploy? The fewer offensive weapons the better that’s for sure.
Everything I’ve seen seems to suggest Bond will be playing.
At least two of those Texas RBs have been out since the preseason. They have been running the ball effectively without them already.
Tate is out, he’s emergency only. To use Kirby’s secret code, he’s “hopeful Tate can play.” The UT backs have been hurt all year and they picked up a transfer before the year started. Their freshmen have done well against terrible DLs, but they’ve got a good OL too. Bond is playing, but not clear how healthy his ankle is.
I’d never wish an injury on any of these athletes, the irony of Bond not playing or getting hurt and Georgia winning.
Bond even limited will help. Bobo will need all of his crayons to overcome our lack of RBs. This bodes well if he’s found something in the Texas D to exploit, or will result in some ugly offensive possessions.
Pre-season talk had the Texas secondary as a weakness, and they have yet to get tested by a competent passing attack, so it should be interesting. Carson Beck is know for getting the ball out of his hands quick, so some of their production might drop compared to past games. You know who gets it out just as quick? Ewers. A few of the passing charts that have been trotted out there this week shows that Sark likes to work the intermediary more than deep, and Ewers hasn’t been hitting deep balls. While we don’t get many sacks, if we can apply pressure and keep the receivers in front of us, I like our chances. I’m wondering if the Longhorns can’t establish a run if Kirby doesn’t show some six DB looks out of a 3-2 set. I’m sure he’s been working on disguising coverages for a moment like this.
That’s right, JP, but that UT secondary is about to be tested heavily.
The lack of RB’s will force the use of Frazier. I can’t help but think this kid is on the very edge of a breakout. He has just been running too well.
