Hate: It’s in the Game

Boy, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better way for marketing team to build hype for a vidya game release than what EA Sports is doing right now. Pundits all over are losing it about the recent ranking releases of teams in the upcoming release of College Football 2024:

Interesting tag there: rankings are subject to change. I’d imagine that might change after game 1 of the season for “Coach Prime’s” 2024 debut.

NDSU is no slouch, and just as a reminder, Colorado sucked last year and has no business being ranked in the top 10 of anything, whether it’s the AP poll or the Lilly’s Little Lambs 3 year old rankings selected by which colors the kiddos liked best.

Anyway, with the off-season being what it is, folks will take any port in a storm to debate about the upcoming season. We’ve got nine damned weeks to go! August 29th can’t come fast enough…but since there’s little to talk about, here’s the week zero and one slate of games.

I’m hoping the offseason anger results in a deal-clubbing by Florida State against Tech, and I’m likewise hoping to see Georgia State pull an upset in Bobby Dodd a week later. Notre Dame against the Aggies at Kyle Field should be good watching, and I’m likewise hoping that Kelly beats the hell out of USC when LSU matches up against the world’s greatest offensive mind in Lincoln Riley, second only, of course, to Bobby Hill at Tennessee.

So what’re you watching for during the opening weeks of the season, outside of the Clemson-Georgia contest?

  1. I’ll be watching the Jackasses er Jackets get their butts handed to them in dear old Ireland. Deion better watch out I’ve watched NDS beat teams a lot better than the Buffaloes.
