Your game day post, roll the tide edition

Well, the reality that the schedule makers have foisted upon us is here. All eyes across college football will be on Tuscaloosa today. ESPN’s Gameday will be there to gush and guffaw over the Sabans and Alabama along with more nausea inducing content I’m sure.

I, personally, have some sense of calm about this game. Kirby thrives in this situation. A sloppy win vs Kentucky gave plenty of areas to coach up. A bye week sandwiched in between. And a huge SEC game on the road. I feel like Kirby has the entire team’s attention and focus. I see UGA coming out and playing a disciplined game with few mistakes. Will that be enough? A lot of questions on the other side of the ball. First big SEC game for the new Bammer head coach. How will he react? How will his team respond to him?

This game is between the 2 premiere programs of the SEC (screw you Texas). If UGA wins or keeps it close and plays well, I’ll be satisfied. Another “ugly” game out of this team and there will be concern and I don’t think you’re going to earn an ugly win against this Bama team.

  1. Oh, how i wish all we had to worry about was the long snappah. My brain tells me to agree with you about Kirby and the team’s focus. My heart and gut are nervous as hell. I might be double fisting beer and pepto before halftime.

  2. I tried being confident last December and that didn’t work out. I’m full Munson today. Maybe we’ll send the gumps home with a sad face tonight.

    • My inner Munson is the loudest it has been since Richt was HC. The offense needs to hold on to the ball 3minutes at a time, win field position and keeo the D fresh. If UGA is punting in less than 2 and a half minutes, the D will be getting gassed.

      The OL and TEs have been missing blocks and Beck has missed throws. I have not been enthusiastic about Bobo’s return but his play calling IMO was the not the problem with Clem’s Son. If Beck was on target for a throw or 2 more the game is not near as close.

  3. Kirby used Milroe’s quote from the SEC CG all off season to motivate the team. He’s spent two weeks riding the team about the Kentucky game.

    His pregame speech is going to be about breaking their will. DeBoer isn’t ready for this kind of intensity and UGA rolls.

  4. I hope we don’t try to play Milroe the way we did in the SECCG. I also hope we don’t try to slow the game down, play for field position, keep it close and hope to pull it out at the end. I doubt that works against Alabama at home. I also doubt my nerves and stomach can take it.

  5. Lane Kiffin must suck as an offensive coach or else he would be destroying Kentucky. Mike Bobo needs to be fired from Ole Miss. where’s that football savant Wade Wilson?

  6. For all the dumbasses who were pulling their hair out about the Kentucky game, high powered Ole Miss has managed a grand total of seven points in one half of football against Kentucky.

  7. Year after year, I tell myself we’ve turned the corner and now WE are the dominant program. Beating Bama in the national title game was the peak of that feeling.

    Then we dodged them (or they dodged us?) one year, then lost to them the next. So where are we really?

    Then there is the elephant in the room (no pun intended). What’s the biggest difference between our team that beat them in the national title game, and our team that lost to them last year and plays them today?

    Until we start stacking consecutive wins against Bama, we aren’t the truly dominant program. It sucks hard to admit that. 🙁

    • Who fucking cares? We’ve won two of the last three titles. If that’s dominant enough for anybody they’re unreasonable.

      • Don’t think I don’t appreciate the fuck out of that.

        But I want it all. I want what Bama had – titles AND universal admission that we are the best program in college football.

        This is probably our best, and last chance ever to reach that peak. I don’t think college football survives another 20 years.

        • I could give two shits about validation from the college football world and don’t care about getting a tongue bath from the sports media. Just keep winning. The rest of that means dick.

          • That’s great. But I’m not you and you don’t have to want the same things I want. So I’m not sure why so much aggression?

            Lots of teams win national titles. Very few get to dominate entire decades/eras of college football.

  13. I’ll get flamed for this but I’m so glad Arch Manning didn’t come to Georgia. Georgia fans act crazy enough about the quarterback as it is. It would be hideous if he was in Athens. Half the fan base would swear he should be playing and Kirby and Bobo were just too dumb to see it. I’m watching Texas and Mississippi State right now and Manning was clearly out of bounds near the goal line. Those people lost their minds when he was ruled out of bounds. He’s special cause his last name is Manning and everything he does is awesome. No thank you. Our fans are squirrely enough as it is.

  33. If you told me Kirby wanted everyone to lay down and throw this game I would believe it because there is absolutely no other rational explanation. Not one player on D is coming close to their assignment. Beck and his receivers are in different time zones. Entienne is just not the guy we need. Has Fraiser been on the field?

  37. The most discouraging thing to me is I thought Kirby had us at a point where a big game like this would not become a total Sh!tshow. Absolutely completely unprepared for anything. The atmosphere, the hostility, the speed, the talent, the playcalling, anything! Being outcoached, outplayed, outhustled. So far the most disappointing game to me since year one. It feels in my gut that the direction of this season depends on the response by this team in the 2nd half. Probably not true, but it feels like it.

  41. I can’t argue with the folks talking about Beck and his NIL/ Lamborghini attitude because this is not one game, this is multiples. And to think they are increasing ticket prices 30% for this. I’ll be there for the Dawgs, but our staff starting with Kirby have a lot of explaining for this shit show. Total EMBARASSMENT and now they are rubbing our face in it with trick plays and cute stuff.

    • The offense didn’t give up 28 easy points.

      But yeah Beck has been horrible after that first drive.

  45. I’m not sure you can even break this down. To a man not one player has performed anywhere close to their capability. The “Why?” has to point to coaching. 2 weeks and they are unprepared and unmotivated to respond to being punched in the mouth. Forget the wailing and gnashing of teeth. This is completely uncharacteristic of a Kirby Smart team. I’m not going to rant about the money in the sport…but I’ll think it.

    • My wife and I have been talking about this all night. Feels like someone is on the take or someone is pouting over compensation. How we are playing this bad is inconceivable.

  50. It’s a lackadaisical ho-hum attitude going back to last year. Starts with Beck and trickles down from there. An attitude that they’re champs just for showing up.

  53. I’m still watching…..the kids are fighting, but Carson gave us a clue 2 weeks ago and we see it in living color today. He’s confused, inaccurate and very mistake prone. What’s gone wrong with him?????

  54. My late night theory. Team didn’t respond in practice the week after the Kentucky game like Kirby wanted. “What’s the big deal coach?” Kirby waits for team leaders to take charge…no one does. “Fine…trot out on Saban field and prove me wrong.” He’ll have their full attention this week and we roll the rest of the season.

    Or…we suck.

  56. 4th down percentage has to be pretty good, we have been having to go for it the whole game. Feels like they have let up with the lead and now we are scoring in garbage time. I was hoping this was the time we could finally slay these bastards without Saban and accelerate their downfall into oblivion. Looks like we are just going to be their bitches forever.

    • He’s called an amazing 2nd half but we only played 2 qtrs, Richt teams didn’t play complete games.
