Your game day (ND) post, Week 1 Sunday edition

Good morning! Well, yesterday was wall-to-wall college football. Today’s schedule is a little lighter but, we have college games nonetheless.

Two games but, they’re a couple of good ones. Nothing kicks off until 3:00pm today so, you have time for church and family dinner before you go back into your college football coma.

Who ya taking, who ya fading? What’s the best chance for an under? Who’s making money today?

This post is open for your game day (ND) comments throughout the day and evening.

Go Dawgs!

  1. I want Sellers to play his way into the league before they end up on our schedule.

I wouldn’t pull for ND to beat anyone, ever.

Go Canes! After all do we really need to see Clemson back door a pass into the playoffs after laying that egg at home last night?

I’d just as well have Miami and FSU fighting over those spots.

  2. Can Shane gag this one away? Absolutely but I expect to see a really good team. Will Carson know how to react with receivers catching his passes? Hope he hangs 400 yards on them.

  3. I might end up spending more time on Twitter watching the gumps melt down.

  4. My only wish is there was college football every fall Sunday afternoon & evening. My interest in the NFL has dwindled from believing it was the greatest sport on earth in the late 60’s-70’s to I sometimes enjoy the playoffs nowadays. My only real interest is in former Dawgs exploits in the league.

    • I still follow the Dolphins but, no where nearly as close as I used to. The rest of the NFL doesn’t much interest me. I’ll sit in front of the TV for most any random college game, not the NFL, don’t much care.

      • Same here. Grew up a Raiders fan & killed me every time they’d lose an AFC title to first the Dolphins, then Steelers. Hated the Dolphins back then but have grown to appreciate how great those teams were. Same with the Steelers. Those glory days are gone, sadly.

        • Yeah, I hated the Raiders and Steelers back then! Sea of Hands nearly broke me! But, I have a lot more respect for those teams now and the legendary players that were on all those teams.

          • Man, Sea of Hands!
Raiders finally get past the mighty Dolphins only to lose at home the next week to the new bully Steelers.

    • Great point I had missed. Now the networks know the number needed to get the Irish to play on Sundays.

I would love to have two big college football games every Sunday. The NFL lost me by ironically preaching to me. I just want good football.

I’m hoping the Canes crush the Irish. Then boat race Florida. I know I can count on on them to implode down the road. Their coach is also good for giving a game or two away. I’m reluctant USCe fan today. I just want their QB to have a good enough season so he’s long gone. Before they get back on our schedule.

  5. It’s been a bad offseason to predict the best quarterbacks. Sellers, Manning, Sayin, and Klubnik have all looked average at best.

    • On SCar’s first possession, Sellers looked like a Heisman winner ready to take on the NFL. Kinda petered out after that.

  6. I am happy Carson Beck is doing well for Miami (first TD vs ND looked good). Such weird karma, if he was not hurt in SCG, do we beat ND in New Orleans? Make it to Natty vs OSU? I am not a fan for the other nonsense… but watching him tonight means the Sugar Bowl could been a different result last year. He has flaws and not a great teammate, but has skills.

    • I texted my ND friend and asked who this Rhetson Lennett kid was at qb. He got it.

  7. :12 to go to the half, that was a helluva play by Beck and #7. Respect.

    • Incredible catch up and between 3 defenders. Beck’s not looking too shabby. Still seems to be overthrowing everything over 25 yards, but doing well leading his receivers on the shorter routes.

  8. I can’t hate watch Beck tonight. He stayed 5 years, graduated and did everything he could to win at Georgia. If he was going to stay in college, it probably made sense for him to have a change in scenery. He wasn’t going to get the NIL he wanted at Georgia to come back.

Good luck to him, and I hope we beat their asses if we played them in the CFP.

    • I’m hate-watching ND, like I’ve done all my 60 years. Yes, I came out of the womb hating ND. Beck was very nice to my son when he was at his lowest point in life, I can’t hate the kid… unless we play him, then he’s persona non grata!

  9. USCe gonna be a problem for their opponents this season. I see 10 wins and just maybe a trip to Atlanta.

    • Unless they get into a game with refs that actually call “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” penalties.
That game set the standard for mouthing off, counting coup and “look at me” chest beating.
I’ll be surprised if Beamer doesn’t address it.
