Your 01/01 Quarterfinals Gameday Post

Good morning and Happy New Year! Well, Whinin’ Day and the Bucknuts will get to watch the rest of the CFP from their couch. Time to put Ole Miss on the couch with them.

Now, I’m no prognosticator, I’m just a fan. However, last season, headed into the Sugar Bowl, I was uneasy about the game and, to my horror, it didn’t turn out well for the good guys. Don’t have any of those feelings this season. This team has grown up and made huge strides as we watched them all season. Ole Miss might get some early points but, I look for UGA to take over, at the latest, by the second half. Don’t think Ole Miss can overcome us. Last year, the middle 8 killed us, got us down so far, we couldn’t rally back. I trust Kirby to button that up today.

In other news, there’s a couple of other games today as well. Part of me wants to see Bama shut Indiana down and shut up all the B1G idiots. But, I don’t really want to see Bama for a 3rd time this season so, I’m conflicted. As far as TT/Oregon, I’m pulling for TT, although I really don’t care which one wins.

So, here’s the TV lineup for today, with all the broadcasts being aired by E$PN:

Go Dawgs!

  1. Three (3) two team parlays today:

    Bama moneyline/Dawgs -6
    Bama moneyline/TT +3
    TT +3/Dawgs -6

  2. One of these bye teams has to get off the schneid and finally win one of these QF games. In unshocking news, I’d just as soon as Dawgs be the team that makes that happen!

    • Otis, I’m glad you’re confident. I do think the long layoff will hurt our offense. I trust Kirby but this will be a fight.

Whatever the outcome, it’s been a great season already. We beat everyone on our schedule including an ass whipping of Bama to win the true championship. Go Dawgs!

  3. Can we start a pool picking what the actual Sugar Bowl start time will be? I’m in for 8:37.

    • I had to laugh you’re so right how long will they commercial the viewer with endless how we got here’s, promo’s and highlights of earlier games.

I’ll get it started take the under at 8:31.

    • I’ve never understood why this happens. There are SO many pre-game shows and in-between game studio segments that cover EVERYTHING that is discussed prior to kick-off of the actual games. WHY does anyone think that we need all of the crap prior to the kick-off? Why do we EVER have to see the coin toss or listen to the national anthem? These things should have already happened PRIOR to the TV start time. Most 12 noon games START at 12 noon. Why can’t the primetime 8 pm games do the same (especially since we know that the game may last until midnight!)? And then they have the audacity to say that the games last too long!!!

  4. I believe the layoff effect is very real. If the offense starts fast again with scoring on the first few drives. My guess is we just physically break their will and roll big.

If not it’s probably a Dawg fight which still favors the good guys. Just don’t beat yourself with turnovers and explosives then I think the Dawgs find away to keep playing.

I hope it’s not b10 officials or a flag fest. Let the players play don’t let penalties determine the outcome.

  5. anOSU last night and Texas Tech so far today have not looked good. That long layoff is NOT the reward everyone thought it would be when this 12 team abomination started. So far NO 1st round bye team has won in the 2 years of this playoff format. That’s the only reason I have any concern for this evening. If any coach has the secret sauce to break the curse, it’s CKS.

  6. What I can tell TT and Oregon can’t compete with teams left in CFP

    • I’ve made up my mind. I want Bama today. Shut the B1G morons up. Get Bama to the Natty against us. Beat them for the 2nd straight time in the games that really count and shut the majority of Toothaloosa up, too.

    • If Dan stops stepping on his dick, I think Oregon could be a tough out.

      Good qb. Really good defense.

  7. Put me down as saying Lanning is a creep for scoring that last TD with 19 seconds left…the ball on the goal line and winning 16 to zip. Just lost a lot of respect of the guy (I’m sure he GAS what I think though.)

      • If TT didn’t want another TD they shouldn’t have used their timeouts down 16-0 and under 2 minutes. If they don’t call TO then Dan takes the knee.

That score is on TT. They decided they still wanted to win. Oregon obliged them.

    • Agreed. Jesse Palmer gave the most damning verdict (unintentionally), Spurrier wouldn’t have taken a knee. What low rent a$$holes!

    • Nonsense.

No requirement to commit a turnover up only two tds.

If it were 3 scores maybe, but 2?

You can’t just surrender the ball at the goal line.

I lost respect for Dan for going for it over and over instead of taking the points while his OL was getting dominated. How do you win short yardage when your OL is getting beat that badly?

  8. I have to tell my Rose Bowl story again. We got there at 4:30am so we could go to the parade and the game. A guy load of guys pulled in behind us and they had Ft Bliss stickers on their car so I chatted them up. None had ever been to Athens but they were Dawg fans. Asked them why they came from so far and they said “we’re going to Game Day!!!” We never saw them again but we found out that Game Day wasn’t at the Rose Bowl, it was at the Sugar!!!

  9. This going for it all the time is fucking stupid. Play field position!! Punting and kicking fgs are part of football ya fucking morons!!

    • Bama going for it on 4th down in their territory smacks of desperation. Almost as if Deboer felt that he had to have it because he can’t compete otherwise.

      • Looks like that may be the actual case.
Bama is desperate at this point.
They’ve been outscored 45 to 7 in their last six quarters..

        • Except I forgot they did beat OK….my excuse is I don’t think about Bama very much…’twill be even less in the future.

  10. Fucking ridiculous announcers. “Heck of an underrated job by Alabama ’cause they forced the QB out of the pocket to scramble for a first down!” Complete shitheads and Bama shills.
I hope Indiana beats those fuckers by 100. Apologies, Otis.

      • I think the jury has reached a verdict..
Bama has scored 7 points in the last game and a half..and that was pretty much garbage time against UGA.

          • Yeah…Well I’m old and I completely forgot that they played OK in the first round…
            I plead dumb.

          • Not a chance of that counting, it happened last year…GO DAWGS!!

          • Alabama scred 7 on a pick 6 against OU. That means Alabama’s offense scored 34 points in its last 3 games.

  11. Indiana is better than I gave them credit for AND Bama has regressed as the season has gone on. How did we lose to them in the regular season? They absolutely cannot run the ball. Kayden Proctor may be big but apparently, he is not very fleet of foot. He is getting beat like rented plow mule on running plays. The unable to set the edge virus was cured in Athens but appears to have spread to Tuscaloosa. I suspect if this game continues this way, Deboer’s seat is going to heat back up in a hurry. Losing is one thing. Getting embarrassed is something else.

On a separate note, after watching last night and the 2 games today, Joe Tessitore has moved to the top of my list as the most obnoxious, annoying, make your ears bleed announcers.

    • #74 held on nearly every play against Oklahoma because he was getting beat by a faster guy and never got called for it. It pissed me off to no end and I’m not an Oklahoma fan.

Tessitore is the guy at the end of the bar where you and your buddy are catching up with a quiet drink that won’t shut up, getting louder and louder. You look at your buddy, then at the barkeep, who looks at the Tessitore and then at the door. Then we “help” the Tessitore to go find somewhere else to be obnoxious. FTMF

        • IF they did fire him, Joey Freshwater would be on the first plane to Tuscaloosa to beg and plead for that job.

    • Sorry, Derek, Bammer Arrogance is almost impossible to wipe out. They will brag that today that Bammer played the best that any team has ever played in a 35 point loss.

  12. If you’re pulling for Bama, there’s still a chance. Rose Bowl has had some epic second half comebacks. IU looks pretty good right now, though.

    • I’m not sure I agree with that. I think he had just had enough and was ready to enjoy his life. Kissing 17-18 year olds asses gets old when you’re old especially knowing they only want to know the size of the check. He has more money than he will ever spend. He still makes bank with his endorsement deals, his ESPN TV gig and his Alabama pension.

It’s the one thing I worry about with Kirby.

    • For instance, that play Indiana just ran on 3rd and 8 where the receiver is just separated from the DB … Saban would have lost his $#!+. Terrible run fits. Players out of position. Players getting physically whipped.

      • That is your new bama, moving forward, those dickwads better get used to it…..GO DAWGS!!

        • AIN’T LIFE GRAND!!
I have the feeling the Bubba Gumps are about to see the return of the Ray Perkins/Bill Curry era of success.

    • Not sure what year satan’s agent inserted the “satan will be the highest paid college football HC, by a dollar, yearly” cause…satan knew CKS would be that next up HC, got out while the future was bright…GO DAWGS!!

  13. Cignetti had better ease up or Bama will try to hire him in the parking lot!

    • Joey Freshwater says “Negative ghost rider, the pattern is full”…

  14. I am enjoying this way too much.
I hope the Karmic Bitchez stay at the house tonight.

  15. Damn boys, Indiana has impressed the hell out of me. I thought OSU was the only team that could hang with us for 60 minutes. I think Indiana will give us a real test.

      • I will admit I am spoiled by Kirby. Ole Miss might play well or even look really good for a half. Then Kirby will make his patented adjustments and grind them into a fine powder.

  16. Ran out of reply options…

    FlyingPeakDawg said:
“A very Senatorish reply. Well done Otis 👏”

    I’m humbled. Thank you.

  17. After that absolute ass whipping, I wonder how may will be portaling out of Tuscaloosa by weeks end?

  18. I guess Deboer didn’t wear the hoodie he needed… or was their QB hurt?

    • I imagine they’ve gone past “bring back Nick” and have ventured into “dig up The Bear” territory.

  19. Been a long time since I saw a Bama club straight up tap out. Bad run fits, shitty tackling and very little “want to”. In other words, charmin soft.

  20. Looks like you can watch with the Georgia radio broadcast on espn unlimited

  21. We need to start getting some pressure on discount Jalen Hurts.

  22. 3 adjustments: tackle. Don’t throw deep. Don’t throw to Cash Jones deep.

  23. This looks like another game where the team with the bye is rusty and the other team is sharp.
    Ugh.
Hopefully the Dawgs will get warmed up soon….looks like an early season game where we seemed required to play from behind for a half.

  24. Yeah, we getting whipped all over. Gunner is a DGD, but limited. No downfield passing game. Bama just sucks. We are probably a little more of the GT game offense. Tackle well on the perimeter and we are in trouble. Ole Miss came to win. We must have come for the food.

    • First drive we were moving the ball in good chunks and then for some reason went for the low percentage deep ball…I know you have to do that some, but it put us behind the chains and we had to punt. Second drive..moving the ball..third and 2 and for some reason we don’t run (against O’Ms weak front) and get the pass batted down…punt.
RTDB!!!!!! Wear that defense down..Frazier is a beast.
O’Ms is well prepared and has a good game plan. Dawgs are going to have to step it up!!!
RTDB, and knock Trinidad’s dick in the dirt a couple of times and things will get on track.

    • Nice. We remembered we can run the ball. You’re welcome for my doomsday comment reverse psychology.

  25. When you’re averaging over 9 yards a run….RUN IT! KEEP RUNNING IT! Make them quit.

That was a great call and play fake by Gunner.

  26. I can’t do this again. Scored on 3 straight drives. A talented QB just whips a Kirby D.

  27. Cannot afford not to score. Ole Miss is gonna keep on scoring.Gunner can’t throw the ball down the field. That screen shit isnt gonna hold up
