So I’ve seen a lot of speculation out there, although nothing is confirmed. It seems to boils down to this:
Reason Number One: He’s “Whipped”
Many commenters said blonde hair and b**bs will do it. Drive down Milledge any afternoon, and I think I could find a dozen or so better offers, but that’s my opinion.
Reason Number Two: Money
This makes sense, as it’s reported Miami is offering up to 6 million guaranteed, and it turns out many of Beck’s NIL deals in Athens were from partnerships like Milk, Airlines, and so forth. I’m guessing after the 2024 season some of those were starting to fall off the table. Guaranteed money while the NFL is questionable is a smart, level-headed move, and I can’t fault him for that.
Reason Number Three: Both parties were ready to move on
I can see this as well, though the why is unbeknownst to me. I speculated some about this yesterday, based on the rumor mills floating through social media, but also many were basing this on Beck’s absence during the CFP preparations, along with his “less than desirable” countenance based on the optics police regarding his “fire” or leadership because of how the guy looks.
Reason Number Four: Ewers and Manning
Honestly, I think the number one and two reasons are reason enough, but Beck is human, after all, and I think he wouldn’t be looking to a season full of shit like this:

Texass’s first and goal play calling sequence had 2014 Mike Bobo standing and applauding last night, and while I didn’t wonder if Manning would’ve been the better option, choosing to toss sweep rather than plugging in two defensive tackles as full backs and road grading three straight times was odd to me. But in the aftermath, you have people calling for QB2 with better legs to have been the solve over QB1 with better passing mechanics, or something like that. After the SECCG, this would be the narrative for the entire 2025 campaign, and I couldn’t fault Beck at all for tapping out of that conversation while opting for guaranteed money, my girlfriend, and a rehab option while avoiding this headache altogether.
In the end, we will likely never know the full story, and we likely don’t need to know. We aren’t his parents, agent, or teammates, so the reason for it is his own. Now the debates will begin about if he’s a DGD, if he underachieved, etc. Honestly, it doesn’t matter, does it? Returning, transferring, or pursuing the pros doesn’t undo the 2024 results, which vary in many readers’ and fans’ perceptions from a success to an utter failure. That’s the nature of opinions, and it’s the nature of the sport.

Still, he hung in there through Newman, Daniels, Mathis, and Bennett, and remains as sixth in all time passing yards among Bulldawg QBs, so he paid his dues and did his best when given the opportunity. That’s more than you can say for some others, and that should count for something regardless of your viewpoint on his “success”.
Rehab, TikTok, and invest, young man, and best of luck in Miami. My only hope is our teams don’t cross paths in 2025. Mainly for crap like this:

Fandom is fickle, no?
My take – Carson did not keep UGA in the loop on his elbow situation. He did everything in a vacuum, like he decide to move on. This is similar to what JT Daniels did in 21. Kirby doesn’t have time for that shit. I imagine Carson came to Kirby with the 4 mil number and Kirby told him not to let the door hit him in the ass on the way out. Looking at it big picture, the guy couldn’t beat out JT or Stetson. He had multiple meltdowns in games. He looked like Joe Montana in multiple games. I don’t think he was worth 4 million and the team doesn’t respond to him as a leader. As far as Hanna, if she’s the one he made the right choice. The odds of her sticking with him for life are comparable with the north ave trade school winning the CFP.
JT stayed plugged in throughout and after his injury to the team. He helped Monken and Faulkner with SBIV. I believe Bennett hugged JT on the sideline after Ringo scores the TD.
The story with JT is the same story with Eason and Fromm. JT got hurt, SBIV played well and won over the team, Kirby didn’t want to upset team chemistry, and the previous starter spent the rest of the year on the sideline.
In both of those cases, the previous starters supported the new starter and the team.
I don’t imagine the decision to go for a Hail Mary in the SECCG resulting in his injury (as opposed to a long FG attempt) and the way people anointed Gunner as the next SBIV or Jake Fromm helped either. Not defending Beck, but I think a separation probably just made sense. His departure sort of feels a little like Quincy Carter after the 2000 season.
I wish him the best in Miami unless they play us at some point in the CFP.
I think you have the right opinion. Beck did a good job for us while not becoming what we expected based on last year. Lots of reasons for that : no Brock, no Ladd, Bad OL, Bobo, tougher schedule, Beck’s shortcomings, etc.
I think it’s best for both parties to move forward. That doesn’t mean that I think Gunner will be better or even as good as Beck it just means that every relationship ends eventually.
If Miami is giving him 6 million then he’d be a fool for not taking it. On the other hand we’d be more of a fool for matching that amount for any college QB unless it was Cam Newton in 2010.
In the long run it works out well for Beck. In the short run we will be better off next year with a different QB with less distractions.
Agree with about everything you’ve included. I’ll add the pull of his sweetie and it’s 71 right now here on the beach. With his new bank account life at the U can be pretty tolerable.
ND game…
Gunner needed all three phases of the game to play to a high standard to have a shot…The D did but O and ST let him down.
Carson, in my opinion, could have overcome the :52 ND scoring avalanche(see Bama, GT, etc) and we would have had a shot to comeback(via his arm).
onto 2025.
About that Donghorns’ series late last night: It takes real effort to turn a first and goal at the one into seven points for your opponent. The cherry on top would have been the meteor that never struck.
First appearance of her, a nice hard body, that lives and has taken to the south florida style….he, looks/appears a bit out-o-place (this was a thought when he came to the Classis City), she’s established, he will be the proverbial “3rd wheel” in her circle and other events, true, he is from north florida, it ain’t south beach and all that, he’s a rental for one year (if that wing doesn’t do right, he could red shirt?) and will be as naked as the day of his birth (the hc at “U” could be on a hot seat if 2025 goes sideways)….GO DAWGS!!
Couple of extra zeros on the right side of the decimal? I’d sell you fuckers out too…Rock on with your bad self, Carson.
$4 million would make just about anybody run to another school. This is supposed to be college athletics, now it is, show me the money. I don’t really blame him,
that is just the name of the game now.
Yep
That playcall really sucked. I think Sark is very overrated in general and outside of his time at Bama have never been super impressed.
The worst part of this playoff is that based on how Texas played OSU we would have given them a good game in 10 days. I don’t know if we could replicate their success in limiting Smith but Ohio’s QB is primed for a breakdown and Walker and Williams could have provided the attendant circumstances.
I have always been a firm believer that SEC qbs should spend an afternoon with Joe Namath. Pretty sure that the “girlfriends” discussion would end in “what? Why? Dude, the only thing you need to concern yourself with is your teammate’s girl. She’s off limits. Otherwise, well, let God sort out the rest and if one tries to act like she’s going to fuck your friend/teammate to make you jealous like Kelly Stafford did, send her a photo of you with three of her friends. You’re in a land of abundance. Act accordingly. No reason to be mean or gross or a douche. Just keep it casual. That relationship shit will wait.”
You’re correct sir. Beck is whipped.
Beck landed on his feet. Not sure I can say the same for our 2025 offensive prospects.
We have arguably the worst offensive staff in the sec and 2025 is looking like a major rebuilding year. Add QB to the growing list of positions that will need filling.
If we ever do see him I hope we have a DC that will set the edge and has the balls to blitz…
Lots of reasons to move on as you noted and take the guaranteed money before the new restrictions begin in April. If you arent able to come back after a grueling rehab and be the same or better, then you’ve got a lot of money to dry your tears with and start a new career.
And like I said many weeks ago, we got Beck’s best and we can’t ask for more than that. It wasn’t enough this year, and we move on to the next, shaking hands goodbye.
Is the House settlement going to end the collectives? If not, it’s just revenue sharing on top of inducement NIL.
Totally possible that boosters go outside the collectives again, but the new rules state all third-party deals over $600 in value have to go through a NIL Clearinghouse, which should act to tamp down a lot of the outrageous pay-for-play payments going on. Deloitte is managing the clearinghouse, not the feckless NCAA. The conferences are creating a separate entity to enforce the spending cap and levy penalties. In effect, it should somewhat level the playing field for the power 4 teams and then leave the more creative/ballsy boosters to pay under the table again. Very TBD, but there’s enough concern out there that people are paying heavy now before that’s implemented.
I’m just not mad at Beck. I’m more disgusted with this unsustainable Wild West college football. I think some changes get made at some point. I’m not against them being paid. I’m not against them being able to transfer. But anybody that thinks this free for all that we have now is sustainable, well, their parents are related.
He swapped a BullDawg for whatever the hell that thing is behind him…says it all…
He didn’t go to the NFL because he didn’t get the draft grade he expected. He went to Miami because Georgia was ready to move on with Gunner.
