When you’re winning, life is good. When everything is hitting on all cylinders, everyone is happy and you’re on top of the world.
When you lose, everything is not.
It was somewhat amazing, yet not surprising, to see the naysayers come out of the closet last night during and after the Oklahoma loss. As though this team didn’t just rattle off a 20-1 streak to conclude the season, win the SEC regular season AND SEC Tournament, and go 5-0 in Regional Play, including 2 gems against arguably one of the best teams in the field of 16.
Despite all that, all glory is fleeting. To some, a loss tonight or failing to advance further in Omaha equates to a complete loss. Wes is a fraud. Overrated team. Too much hype, too little results. On and on and on.
Honestly, our own fanbase makes other fanbases look generous and civil in their “ha ha’s” when they talk crap about Georgia after a Dawg loss.

It’s almost as if some people live to naysay, looking for the bad in everything and that they’re almost unhappy when we succeed…the coach that they think is a waste of money finally got exposed…the player that should be sitting for someone else is a fraud…if only they had focused more on (insert armchair coach strategy here) like I said, we would’ve won.
So what is it with some people? Why are they that way…and are we, Dawg fans, some of the worst at downgrading our own team?
Discuss.
Dammit Bobo!
Just tell them I’ll “see you next Thursday.” Those people aren’t worth anymore effort.
If you fail to get a hit 7 out of 10 times in the bigs you’re likely a hall of famer. Baseball is a tough, streaky sport. Hit a laser, but in the wrong spot and it doesn’t mean shit. A centimeter is the difference between a long out and a tater. I was proud of the way Aoki hung in there last night. On a side note, that blue Cain twitter asshole is a straight anti-Semite and can get bent. Go Dawgs!
He is, to say the least, a strange one.
Pretty unbelievable after that first couple of innings that Aoki hung in there.
It affected both teams, but the strike zone was all over the place last night. Home plate ump needs to do better.
My daughter mentioned it and I told he that at least he was consistently inconsistent for both teams, that is the best I could say for him.
Crash Davis said it best … as usual:

Seems like a small but loud (thanks to the internet giving them a voice) percentage of our fanbase expects the Dawgs to win every game and melt down when they do. Tough game last night but I wouldn’t count out this team – this team battles. Win or lose tonight, this team has been fun to watch all season and am grateful for how far they have come – it’s been a fun season. Let’s go Dawgs!
Screw that Blue Cain Burner account. Guy likely started watching during the Regionals.
Tough loss last night. The game came down to Oklahoma executing a pick off at second and Georgia not doing so. The error in the first resulted in at least more run being scored by the Sooners. A double play would have been likely turned of those runners hadn’t advanced on the error. Got to just tip your cap to Oklahoma. They executed slightly better than the Diamond Dogs.
On the brightside, if they are going to have to advance from the Losers Bracket at least we have only used two pitchers in two games. Time for the bats to wake up. Go DOGS!!!
It’s not that UGA baseball has to score 10 runs tonight, UGA baseball has to shut down texass as best possible, then score a half dozen more then them, UGA baseball will not get the benefits of bad texass play (see Saturday night)…understanding, it’s all hands on deck tonight, we are gonna see the HC managing, if UGA baseball gets a lead and minimize pull pen usage…GO DAWGS!!
Some truths I have learned in 60 years of living….
People Stupid.
Never, ever, EVER underestimate the stupidity of the general public.
Just ordinary intelligence and common sense look like brilliance much of the time.
I tell my kids all the time that these are the best days of my life as a Dawg fan. The best of all time. Enjoy the top of the mountain because the view won’t always be this good. Sadly, so many people can only complain about the shadows on a beautiful, sunny day. I can only invoke the memory of the beloved Ranger Russ in my final response….
All families have a crazy uncle. All fanbases have a few crazies. Best to simply ignore them.
“God is Great, Beer is Good…People are crazy”…GO DAWGS!!
This baseball club has a season that needs to be appreciated. The natty-or-bust mentality must be exhausting for those that think that way.
It’s the same people that think the last 2 years have been failures in football.
I posted this on the thread just before this one.
I am appalled at our supposed fans. The assault on players and coaches was ridiculous and pitiful. They need to be identified and run up a pole. I’m really disappointed in these folks.
You have your comments right on. The Bozo’s that call themselves fans fit right in with the hillbillies, gumps and entitled hamburgers. For 23 years I have had season tickets with good and bad times I have never seen such a bunch of fickle assholes show up on the threads last night. I challenged them to cheer for somebody else because we don’t need them. No matter win or lose, this group has been awesome to watch and joyful in their love of the game. Obviously I want us to win and I have faith, just like following the Ole Miss opener implosion that we will recover. The attacks on Tre are ridiculous. Yes, he’s having a tough go so far, but I trust in my team. They don’t deserve the sh*t many have given them. GO DAWGS! 1 at a time!
Bad start combined with only hitting solo HRs … that’s a combination that gets you beaten in baseball.
Oklahoma did to us last night what we did to Texas on Saturday night.
Attempts to pick players off 2nd base are just stupid. A pitcher just needs to step off the rubber to let the runner know he’s watching.
Getting lead off batters on base (no matter how they git there), is one of the few true ways to win vs better than average pitching, hits with RISP or a base runner on base with HR’s coming is how that you get into the opposition bull pen…GO DAWGS!!
There’s always been a dismal segment of Dawg followers – I won’t call them fans – that get no enjoyment in life and share their joylessness every chance they get. Social media has amplified their voice and enabled them to easily fuel each other’s shitposting. I try to ignore them but they sometimes do creep into the periphery.
“and are we, Dawg fans, some of the worst at downgrading our own team?”
Yes, you see it all the time. Many UGA fans rather be right saying we’ll lose than wrong saying we’ll win. SAD EXISTENCE. Also, the contest of whose “Inner Munson” is more scared than someone else’s has always seems goofy. Or the fretting over uniform colours.
I’ve always been from the Coach Wooden school – “master your skills to the Standard, perform to your best, accept the enemy gets a vote and utterly destroy them.” Sometimes that ain’t enough so move and get better.
“Social media is where assholes go to high-five each other.”
I’ve said all along this has been the most fun I’ve had watching the Diamond Dawgs & win or lose, this season has been great! I don’t go to other blogs for just this reason and I haven’t noticed much negativity on this blog. It’s weird that the bats have all disappeared at the same time & if they don’t wake up, they’re probably not making the finals. But the pitching has stepped up in a way no one could have seen coming if you watched this team all season. Amazing effort by all the pitchers so far and they and the defense are solely responsible for us still being here. You never know what’s going to happen to propel you to a title & maybe this is how we do it. What a ride this has been and it’s not over till it’s over. Let’s go stomp some Okies tonight & see what happens in Game 5. I love this team!
