Baseball is a funny sport. As we’ve seen as Braves fans, you can be a team on fire and just like that…go cold. If you’d told me that Georgia would have only used two pitchers in two games, I’d be pretty confident we’d be 2-0 and sitting pretty, but as it stands, we’re facing elimination tonight against a Texas team that just walloped the hell out of Alabama, 14-2, and I’m sure is hungry for redemption against the Dawgs.

Aside from a Lujo homerun and a timely Ishikawa hit against the Horns (and aside from Volchko’s masterpiece), the offense was spotty on Saturday night and was nearly non-existent on Monday against Oklahoma. Three solo homeruns, Phelps seems to have disappeared, hitting sub-200 in the tournament, and it’s pretty clear that pitchers are working carefully around Jackson whenever he comes to the plate.
So, tonight at 8 pm, we get another shot and we’ll have to beat Texas again, and let’s not think about what comes after, just what’s in front of us. Fortunately, we have lots of fresh arms…but what about hungry bats? Just know if we lose tonight, we’ll be inundated with a lot of retribution from a fan base that’s on par with Tennessee an Tech when it comes to “gotchas”.
Dear Sour Power Dawgs…get that mojo back tonight!
You have your comments right on. The Bozo’s that call themselves fans fit right in with the hillbillies, gumps and entitled hamburgers. For 23 years I have had season tickets with good and bad times I have never seen such a bunch of fickle assholes show up on the threads last night. I challenged them to cheer for somebody else because we don’t need them. No matter win or lose, this group has been awesome to watch and joyful in their love of the game. Obviously I want us to win and I have faith, just like following the Ole Miss opener implosion that we will recover. The attacks on Tre are ridiculous. Yes, he’s having a tough go so far, but I trust in my team. They don’t deserve the sh*t many have given them. GO DAWGS! 1 at a time!
We could use some situational hitting (get men on, move them over, drive them in), and defense needs to tighten up. Pitching (my previous worry) has been excellent, but Longhorns also have a fresh staff, so tonight will be up to the bats. Let’s get’r done!
Chicks dig the long ball. Small ball has gone the way of the fullback.
Pretty frustrating to watch last night. I’ll never understand why baseball players have to do Ron Gant impressions and swing for the fences every at bat instead of Pete Rose/Tony Gywnn and just put the damn ball in play.
Put the head of the bat on the ball! Go the other way. Use the pitchers power against him.
Especially down 0-2 which seemed to be nearly every at bat.
No reason Aoki needed to take a loss last night.
9th inning last night, down one. Your 7-hole gets a base hit with nobody out. Instead of bunting the tying run to second with our 8-hole, we get K, fly out, walk, fly out.
I get that baseball is different now, but the later in the game you get the more it should be like it used to be.
“Anybody can hit home runs!”
Cobb
There was a hit batter in there too wasn’t there?
They got Jackson up with a chance to win it, which gets put at risk if there’s some fuck up double play ball, so I don’t have too many issues with the managing there.
I just wish some of these guys would open up their stances and try to put the ball in play instead of trying to kill it.
Especially you aren’t a power hitter and you are facing a power pitcher who’s feeling himself.
Work the counts. Make the guy earn it. Getting down 0-2 swinging out of your shoes time and time again is frustrating.
3 solo home runs. If there are any ducks on the pond for any of them and we’re in extras at a minimum.
If we got the starter out of there even an inning earlier we’d have been in good shape but he had too many efficient innings. So a guy like Branch taking a 10 pitch at bat instead of 3 changes things even if he still strikes out.
Ishakawa was the only guy who seemed to be consistently taking full advantage of his at bats. Every extra pitch is precious in tight ball games.
Our fans have definitely gotten worse over the last few years. I have also been thru the good times and the bad times. Never booed my team. Never will. Shorthorns are privileged bastards and are ascending my most hated scale rapidly. Never should have been in SEC. But💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 talks!!
Tough loss last night. That’s baseball. Talk about gut check time…..we all had a few laughs at the team from Austin’s expense the other night. Be a shame to see that narrative reversed. I think our guys have it in ’em to turn it around and get into the semis. Go Dawgs!
Letting Texas schools in the SEC was a mistake. They don’t fit and their fans suck.
