I’ll let #47 kick us off on this one.

Here’s the challenge for today:
Obviously, the focus here will be on Georgia.
BUT, your answer cannot be focused on a coach; rather, what would be the one area you’d like to see Georgia improve upon the most in 2025 that you feel is most crucial to getting us back on track?
I’ll throw my .02 out here: I’d like to see the defensive front seven create more havoc up front to stabilize the secondary a little more…and hopefully result in more positive numbers in the turnover margin category.
Let’s hear it Refugees…
Be able to RTDB!!!
Verily. And we’d better because I don’t think our new qb can carry all the weight of the offense. He seems to me to be, at best, Jake Fromm with a stronger arm. Keeping his pitch count at around 20 will be key.
Zero points on the opposite side of the scoreboard. My first thought was more points on Georgia’s side but Erk’s quote popped in my head and I remembered who calls plays.
Next season may be a completely different story with different players but I still believe that if we had caught more balls we would have won more games, maybe all of them, and we would have gone further, if not all the way. Drops were the thing that stood out the most, certainly among other problems, but I feel that drops were what cost us the W in every game we lost because it changed the course of the game and put us in difficult situations that we otherwise wouldn’t have been in had we caught the ball, stayed on the field and scored. I do think that when people watch football, everyone sees it a little differently, and it’s a team sport so everyone has to do their part, but by in large, grumbles about drops this season was the ongoing complaint; therefore, in theory, we fix that and all should be better, even if everything else remains relatively the same. Feel free to call me an idiot if you disagree.
Verily. Seems in our losses there were a few dropped passes of what should looked to be easy throws that came at inopportune times.
Further, our big wins the last few years were greatly helped by the opponents suddenly getting a case of the yips in otherwise solid receiving corps after losing a sure-handed player cough Metchie cough cough * Jameson Williams *cough cough cough Marvin Harrison Jr…
Verily, verily…it’s not like UGA football led the football universe in dropped/misaligned passes, just being mentioned in the top 5 of this offensive category is enough to say, “it changed the course of game out comes”, every where on the field, there appears to be different shortcomings, final analysis will be if the culture can/will overcome, plus how Kirby Smart deals with family issues….God Bless them!!!!
I’ve been told by some very knowledgeable and well trained observers that those drops were Mike Bobo’s fault.
I agree with that. When one part goes bad it puts stress on the rest of the machine. We didn’t give up a whole lot of points except against Tech, and that game was a little longer than usual.
I try to forget the night in Tuscaloosa as well.
Quicksand.
I would like to be able to score some points in the first half, for a change. It seems we come out and try to establish the run or swing pass, our O line gets pushed back and we have to change our plan. Rinse and repeat next game. The chart on our first half scoring last year is mind-boggling.
Great point. Whatever the root cause problem may be, slow-dancing through the first halves of games isn’t the way to win games. The year prior, it seemed we needed the opposing team to score first before we got going, this past year it didn’t matter if they scored 3 or 33, we just took our sweet time ever getting anything going. Can’t keep that as a pattern.
OL.
Line of scrimmage play … full stop.
This is the answer but cheating the “one thing” stipulation. So is it DL or OL? Although defense wins championships I think Kirby can coach that side of the ball. If we don’t get significantly better OL play from Day 1 we’re in big trouble with our schedule again.
It’s meant to be overarching. In our 3 losses, we lost the line of scrimmage on both sides.
Physicality. In all things. I mean if a receiver pushes off, I want the opposing player on the ground. If a guy gets pancaked, I want him shoved back down. If the whistle ain’t blown (don’t be lewd) any opposing player better have their head on a swivel because they’re gonna get checked. No one on one tackles- good hard nosed North Merican Football Gang Tackling. RB’s? Truck fools. All of this can be done within the rules! The best receiver on the opposing team is having a day? Time for a Bullard #NiteNite. Worried about flags? The refs are incompetent and flag us anyways. Teams have gotten a little too comfortable playing us and it’s time to be bad word hated. I want Auburn fans hating us like we hate Nick Fairly. Other than that maybe don’t rely on our Head Coach to shove the opposing QB…
Offensive line. Both pass and run blocking.
In order: OL, D7, WR, RB, TE, QB, D backfield. But that’s sort of 1A – E rather than 1,2,3,4….
We’re still top 10 without massive improvements but need fewer injuries and new faces to step up to be championship caliber.
RUN THE DAMN BALL better.
Offensive line stability and consistency. That alone would have made the offense less pedestrian last season. Would have taken a lot of heat off of the defensive side of the ball by being able to establish a dominant running game and likely giving the QB we shall not mention more than 2 seconds to get rid of the ball.
Offensive line play. period.
I’ve made my comments clear in the past and I can not offer one thing that fits the qualifiers.
No drops.
OL play, both in execution & physicality. Don’t know what happened last season but it sure didn’t look like a Kirby coached physical football team. It would also be kinda cool to have just a normal season of injuries vs the trauma center we seemed to run last season.
Give me marked improvement on interior D line. All else is commentary.
