Another day in the offseason, another pitch for a return to sensible conference realigment.
What I like about it is that in this (as well as his G5 alignment shown in the thread) is that it compels the Independents to join a conference.
What I don’t like about it is that it has Notre Dame in what looks like the easiest Power Conference, and the service academies are in the G5 categories. Personally, give me Army, Air Force, or Navy over UConn or a Utah State any day.
Also, it kicks Missouri and TAMU back out, along with Texas and Oklahoma back out. While Texas did have an immediate impact on the SEC in year one, I have never seen the benefit to having the former in the conference at all.
Anyway, where, in the modern money grab era of CFB, should the Independents go? Why should the Irish have a seat at the table when they can cherry pick their schedules in football and still have an interest in CFP voting at all?
So what we have gone through is now back to the future?
Are you telling me, you built a Time Machine…out of the Southwest Conference?
Why not do it with some *style*?
Or…Conferences? Where we’re going…we won’t need “conferences”.

Go back to 1985 conference alignment. Create a big east for the independents. 12 team playoff. Regional/traditional rivalries are preserved, conferences can have a championship game without a CFP penalty for the conference championship losers, and the non conference scheduling should improve.
In reality ESPN will drive it to NFL lite and destroy more rivalries.
Who do we call, to make this happen?
