  1. Texas really makes it easy to hate them. Fuck THOSE motherfuckers. Go Dawgs!!

    • MY GOD THAT DEFENSE!

Up one score, 23-15. Enemy has the ball.

      Does our defense falter?

      Does our defense waver?

      Does our defense crack?

      1) Forced fumble.

      2) Turnover on downs.

      3) Turnover on downs.

      BALLGAME.

      30-15 DAWGS,.

      • Mr. muckbeast,
How about that Dawg DL? Damn, when they play like that for the entire game, there is no one that can beat the Dawgs. Where have they been hiding all year? We knew the talent was there, but the heat did not show up until this game.
        GO DAWGS

  2. How bout them MF Dawgs. Refs tried every way to fuck us… didn’t matter.
    Worst refs I’ve ever seen.

  3. Glad I was wrong about the result. I did say first one to 30 wins.

We beat them 11 vs. 19 plus the SEC replay losers.

    HBTFD. Horns f-ing down.

  4. They cheated and cheated. Our passing game was ugh!! We still beat that ass!

  5. Two heavyweights punching each other in the face. And we’re the ones still standing. How ‘Bout Them Dawgs!!!!

  6. Those refs will be quietly suspended. That’s a mistake. The SEC office should come out and announce it because keeping it quiet makes it seem like they approve of how that went down. That was as obviously bad as it possibly could have been.

  7. Texas is the divisive drama queen we thought they were. It isn’t surprising they are the Yoko Ono they have been breaking up rivalries to end and teams to leave conferences.

Eat some steak and saw them off.

  8. Two weeks to heal up and work on the run game. Cuz the passing game is…yikes.

  9. Kirby still ripping the refs in his postgame news conference. Love it.

“Now you’ve set a precedent that if you throw a bunch of stuff on the field and endanger athletes, that you got a chance to get your call reversed. And that’s unfortunate, because to me, that’s dangerous.”

  10. If “review” means that the the the little video screen is brought out for the head zebra, and/or the zebra in the press box looks over the call, I think the pass interference call was not technically reviewed. The entire herd of Zebras got together, the offending Zebra confessed the error of his ways, and they changed their minds. I have seen flags picked up before.
What offends about this situation is that once the crowd started throwing things the game had to be suspended and the jumbotron started showing the play on a continuous loop, egging on the crowd and forcing the zebras to watch.
If there’s no formal or accepted definition of “review”, then the zebras and the league are just making it up as they go along.

  11. The SEC needs to be loud about this but if past is prologue they won’t say a word. And now people think they can scare the officials into doing what they want because apparently they can.

Kevin Butler said in the post game that if the officials are afraid of making the crowd mad then get rid of them and get some guys that aren’t. He also said that when he was working with the kickers in a coaching capacity “I looked Kirby right in his eyes and told him a squib kick is stupid. I said it’s stupid! I told him it is stupid! Kick the ball deep and go cover it and if you’re scared you can’t cover it then kick the dang thing out of bounds and take the penalty!” He was fired up about that kick to open the half.

    • I don’t have a room full of analysts, but I can ask a computer a question:

“According to recent data, the success rate of onside kicks, meaning the percentage recovered by the kicking team, is currently very low, around 5% or less, with most sources citing a figure between 2-8% due to recent rule changes that significantly reduced the chance of a successful surprise onside kick.”

So if a 5% success rate is an acceptable strategy, why not apply it in every situation?

I posted a piece on “The 2014 Squib” here: https://gtprefugees.com/2024/06/24/musings-from-the-comment-section-the-2014-tech-game/

The response was universally “don’t ever remind me of that game.” Exactly! It was a stupid call with a horrible outcome. I am soooooooooooooo happy this attempt didn’t kill us. Let’s leave the bad ideas for the other guys.
      How ‘Bout Them Dawgs!

  12. I don’t normally get on “the fix was in” bandwagon. I think the more likely and simplest scenario was these refs are just incompetent.

I’ve watched thousands upon thousands of hours of college football in my life. In all that time, never have I seen a penalty called and assessed, the ball spotted, the clock started, the teams are lined up with the ball about to be snapped, and then… A reversal of the penalty ONLY AFTER a 5 minute break for home team fans throwing shit on the field. It’s never happened because it’s against the rules. The refs WILLFULLY broke the rules of the game. They literally stared at the jumbo screen while trash was on the field and decided they made the wrong call and changed their mind. That only compounds the situation. They made a wrong call about a wrong call. Then they didn’t even have the guts to access the Texas fans an unsportsmanlike penalty for the trash!!

Kirby is dead on. This is a huge precedent that was just set. The Tennessee’s, Ole Miss’s, and (I guess now) Texas’s of the world can hurl trash on the field with no consequence.

This entire ref team needs to be suspended and disciplined.

  13. Refs know they blow calls. Part of the game. They can see replays on Jumbotrons all the time. But once the call is made, penalty assessed and ball made ready for play the opportunity to change is over. Only the replay officials can buzz down to stop play and only for very specific calls. Not the case here. How many other calls did this crew blow and not correct? If they claim none, how arrogant…and objectively proven wrong…can they be? The officiating expert on the broadcast, Bill Morelli, called it “courageous” to overturn the call. The proper definition was cowardice and incompetence. But we can all be sure of one thing…

…nothing will come of this. That’s how the SEC office rolls.

    • Too bad JFK is no longer with us. He could add a chapter on that officiating crew to the latest edition of ‘Profiles in Courage.’
