The Streak is Over

Well, we almost made it through summer without any incidents.

Almost.

According to an arrest warrant, Jackson was arrested at 9:31 p.m. at West Broad Street/Hawthorne Ave. in Athens. He was holding a cell phone while driving a 2017 Tesla.

Jackson possessed or had under his control a marijuana grinder, according to an affidavit for his arrest with the Magistrate Court of Athens-Clarke County.

And got busted by the Georgia State Patrol, to boot. Those summer nights might seem slow and boring in Athens, but it doesn’t mean the law takes the summer off, either.

  1. A felony charge for possession of a marijuana grinder? Taking note of this for, er ummmm…, a friend.

  2. I think it’s a damn shame our boys are having to grind their own weed, what with NIL and all.

  3. I don’t know who Jed May is, but the article linked from Online Athens says they’re not felonies and that he got tickets and bonded out. Copy and paste form the article:

“Sophomore Jahzare Jackson was also charged with possession and use of drug-related objects, possession of marijuana less than an ounce and holding or supporting a wireless device with any part of his body. Those three charges are misdemeanors.”

  4. Well, we could just legalize it. Weed, I mean. Driving and talking on a cell phone is a no-no.

  5. Always feels like we’re waiting for bad news legally every offseason. Hope it’s the only incident

  6. What?! College kids smoking pot? How could that even happen? What an outrage!
