While some of us lamented the spread, you have to tip your cap to Kirby for agreeing to a running clock on Saturday.
“Grateful to Coach Smart. we had a conversation midway through the third quarter through some people about just taking care of the kids, keeping them healthy. So, grateful to Coach Smart for that, how he handled it. Most important thing for both teams when the score gets to that point is the health of both teams and wanting Georgia to be healthy so they can make a run at the National Championship and wanting us to be healthy so we can make a run in our conference at FCS.”
Also, it’s easy to show some grace to a guy who clearly admires Coach Smart, but also the Georgia program and culture.
Meanwhile, in Oxford:
I’m pretty sure if you ever asked Kirby or Saban, they’d prefer to forget Lane was ever associated with them, regardless the results.
During the game against Ole Piss last year the announcers were trying to say Kirby and Freshwater are friends. I don’t buy it.
I have zero insider knowledge, but it seems like Lane’s panties are in a wad because he wanted to be Saban’s golden child. And he’s not.
That definitely makes sense.
I can see Lane as that “friend” in the group that’s always trying to be fresh and cool, but just annoys the shit out of everyone else.
He’s definitely the one in the friend group that stands up through the sunroof in the party limo and gets yelled at by the driver.
I feel that description Russ, you nailed it for me
Lane is an attention whore.
All of these “offensive guru” coaches out there trying to run up the stats for their QBs to keep them in the running for the Heisman. Freshwater, dingbat at USC, Neon Deion… all they seem to care about are putting up huge numbers against cupcakes. That’s why our boys are at a disadvantage for that award. Kirby gives the backups experience to develop depth, and the voters don’t ever take that into account.
Kirby does it the right way, even to the occasional detriment of a particular recruit or two. I think that’s exactly the way he likes it too. If you’re concerned about stats, maybe you aren’t the right kind of player to be here. Never felt more contented than I do with CKS as the Top Dawg!
