Larry would come in the back door of the old Coliseum and make his way to the coaches every Thursday before a home game. He would stop in the area that us freshmen were dressing for practice and say a few words. One Thursday he came through and said, “Bedingfield, how is it going”. I almost fell off of my stool. It is something that he would never remember and something I will never forget.

It was great to have a “transistor” radio sitting in the stands to hear the greatest play by play guy the world has ever known. He could paint the picture like no other and he was ours.
