What a weekend. Diamond Dawgs take the series on a walk off home run in the bottom of the 12th by Henry Hunter.
It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldawg!

Nice bounce back after last weekend at Texas.
UGA baseball needs to be top 5 to top 8 come selection time for regional play, get regional in the Classic City, win that then a super regional in the Classic City, these Dawgs can go far…GO DAWGS!!
The win Saturday was huge, coming on the heels of four straight conference losses. Almost blew this one today but showed great resilience coming off the deck in the extra innings. Really need the bats to heat up (it’s becoming HR or bust), the bullpen to be more consistent and stop making errors. 5 errors today, just unacceptable at this level. The good news is the team did not play well & took two out of three from the nation’s number 1 team. Lots of potential for this group of Dawgs if they can start playing with better fundamentals. Been a fun season so far!
“it’s becoming HR or bust”
That seems to be what baseball has devolved into even at the professional level. I LOVE baseball, but it is getting harder and harder to watch when it’s swing for the fences or bust. Stringing together a couple of hits to score a run is becoming a quaint thing of the past. Tony Gwynn must be rolling over in his grave. You have guys who strike out more in a couple of seasons than he did in a 20 year career. In 2024 you only had 7 guys in MLB finish with batting averages above .300. In 2000 the league average was .270 (79 players hit .300 or above). In 2024 it had fallen to .243 (current league average is .234). Strike outs during that time are up 2 per game. Small ball is all but dead. Advanced metrics has killed it. Sac bunt along with hit and run have gone the way of the dodo bird. My old man “get off my lawn” rant is now over.
5 errors and still won?
is that astroturf at foley field?
Yes. Johnson argued that others have the same turf in their playing fields and wanted to ensure that where they practiced matches where they played. Likewise argued the wear and tear on a field that doubles as the practice and playing field required the change.
