Looks like College Gameday has just kind of given up on being a show about football. Between Blurbstreit’s emotional support animals and McAfeeble’s attempts to bro-code the entire show, now the guest picker doesn’t even have anything relevant to do with the host campus at all.

It’s feeling like Saturday Night Live, with a special guest host and musical guest. And like SNL, Gameday quit being entertaining long, long ago.

  2. That crap is unwatchable, wish they would be banned from campus. And Ol Jelly Doughnut, who is apparently a 10RC fan, definitely needs a few more tattoos. I mean, is he a nasty looking MF or what?

    Poor Rece Davis having to deal with that group. I think he is actually pretty good.

    • Yep, Rece is the only decent one. I haven’t watched in years and it’s only gotten worse as time goes on.

  4. “McAfeeble’s attempts to bro-code the entire show….” Perfect description. And the guest picker is a guy from Tennessee? In Athens? For a game against Tennessee? Why? No singer from Arkansas free this weekend?
    Last couple of years when I have had the desire to watch a Saturday morning kick-off show I have watched SEC Nation. I don’t care for Tebow; great athlete but a dork and Finebaum is a smug know it all but it hasn’t become a parody of its former self like GameDay has.

    • Never watch it. I can’t stomach McA-bro-silly. A friggin punter who tries to identify as a stud linebacker. Not for me. And then there is Curbstreet. Nah, I’ll watch the grass grow.

  5. Hmmmm. They used to have a guy on the show who could relate to younger fans, was beloved by older fans for his story, wasn’t afraid to make a bold statement, wasn’t just a shill for his alma mater, and knew ball. Oh, yeah … they fired him during a purge.

    • Would be pretty amazing if someone printed a bunch of signs with Pollack’s face on them with “Replace Macafee!” written over it and then handed them out to all the students right before the broadcast started.

  6. Quit watching 2 years ago. ESPN is a hype machine and more and more it’s a hype machine for abc. If fox would get rid of urban cryer the kickoff show would be pretty good.

  8. Pat McAfee is an a$$hat who, for some inexplicable reason, is obsessed with taking off his shirt. I haven’t watched sine they hired him.

  9. SNL should be offended to be lumped in with that rubbish. Couple a beers was pretty darn funny. Way better than Mcafee/Mango jumping on tables;)

    • Yeah, SNL is lightyears better than Gameday. At least SNL is supposed to be funny, and occasionally hits. Gameday is just a sad shell of what used to be (many, many years ago) a good way to kick off college football Saturday.

  12. I actually still like and watch SNL. I haven’t watched GameDay in over a decade.

  14. I just took off my shirt, steeped a handful of Zyn in a White Claw and cranked the House Techno Muzik to 11 and still don’t get it. Apparently Human Resources wants a word…

    I actually watch SEC Nation, more (and that means it’s on in the background as I get ready). Gameday has turned into Olympic coverage, it’s only for non fans and would get the same ratings if it were dead air. It doesn’t even sell advertising because ESPN makes all it’s money on carriage fees for cable (cabal?) companies.

  15. Even Athens can’t stop that show from sucking. Other than football takes from Saban, it is unwatchable.
