One thing I heard is that Georgia and Texas Tech are given the benefit of being able to decisively prepare for their first game in the CFP. If you’re struggling with that as I did, the conventional logic is that Georgia “knows” Ole Miss will win, as the Red Raiders “know” they’ll be facing Oregon. The top of the bracket has to wonder who will win the games that play in, which all feature narrower point spread predictions.
Anyway, let’s assume that’s true…Georgia gets a rematch versus Ole Miss to kick off their CFP run. Here’s a fun stat for you:

Aside from the SECCG against Texas, looks like the second verse of the same song yields a significant gap in final score, too…but you know, Alabama and Auburn can always claim “because (insert player name here) was hurt”.
I say all that to say, I feel confident Kirby’s on the mother.
Lane Kiffin, on the other hand, is not.
I think rematch ass whoopings are more of a thing than having all that time to prepare. We know what we can do, we know what they can’t do. We also know where we messed up.
Last year we had prep time for notre dame and we kinda stunk it up. I know I’m a bobo hater, but I didn’t dump on him for that game. I didn’t hate on Gunner either. That late in the season, and not much of a running game all year, we never could have catered to Gunners strengths (like the stuff we run now) in that short of a time.
I’m just glad they created some of the qb runs etc to cater to Gunners strengths this year. He’ll never be a Stafford or a Greene, and they could never be Gunner.
The thing that got me last year was how ND whipped our lines. That was my worry coming into this year, but OL and DL are playing well now, much better than earlier in the season. I like our chances going forward.
Does the Ole Miss postseason coaching change negate Kirby’s rematch mojo?
Probably not. Aside from injuries, it’s not like either team has had a massive roster change since their last meeting. I don’t know if we’ll see the same offensive production from Gunner as we did in the first game, but I don’t think we’ll give up as many points either. And maybe Tulane will catch Ole Miss looking ahead and pull off the funniest upset ever.
I’m pretty sure that Charlie Weis Jr will still be OC for Ole Miss, and of course Golding is still running the D. So I’d be surprised if they roll out an entirely new scheme just to befuddle us.
Rematch/redemption games carry a small weight on game prep, student athletes opting out carries a ton of weight, curious to see that list on the ol piss roster….GO DAWGS!!
More irrefutable proof Kirby throws a strategic game early to get his team’s attention and build season ending momentum.
Irrefutable proof?
(Imagine how Bluto would have handled that one!)
“slight indication” would be more appropriate, FPD.
Kirby Smart ain’t throwing a game…ever.
I say all that to say, I feel confident Kirby’s on the mother.
Lane Kiffin, on the other hand, is not.
Right about now, Kiffin is prolly on someone’s mother.
Is there anybody in the world as bad at break-ups than Lane Kiffin?
Vols named a sewage plant after him and a LOT more.
Al Davis made a whole PowerPoint about him.
USC left him on the tarmac.
And Ole Miss?
They’re going after whether or not he actually did yoga, or owned a dog, plus co-ed confessionals and rumors of him hitting the slopes – and not for the skiing.
Have fun, Tigahs…
