Mirror site not only seems to work but seeing the “Likes” works too which Jetpack doesn’t. So why not just make the switch?
Our subscription runs out soon so we are weighing options still. Not sure what the main gremlin is – Jetpack is on both sites, but doesn’t seem to be as “loud” on the mirror site. The settings on both sites are all the same, so it could be a plugin issue…aside from that, we have the domain name here and there’s some possible complications to a switch and all, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility. We’re considering all avenues.
Domain name a problem. I’m guessing you are not using GoDaddy? I believe they offer support that might fix the issues. I run a couple of sites through them and I can have one domain point to the other automatically. WP is very buggy. Hope you find that switching to the mirror site is not a problem and can have the original domain name automatically point to it.
When I was having problems liking a post, I was using Google Chrome browser. I’ve never had problems commenting. I switched to Microsoft Edge and the “like” problem went away. Don’t know if this helps at all – just thought I’d throw it out there.
