Property for Sale

Well, let’s continue the bastardization of the sport by making sacred ground eligible for corporate sponsorship.

I hope that Brooks, Kirby, and Co. opt to keep Dooley Field clean, but in the case that NIL needs compel the program to seek additional revenue, we could have some interesting options, and might as well have some fun with this. Kudos to UGA Hoops Mafia for their top snark here:

Personally, I’d like to subtly suggest something to SEC officiating crews in Sanford:

Another suggestion I saw that works well:

Or, let’s just call it as it is…

I kid, I kid. In all seriousness, the sport that once was is being shifted by the powers that be into the polar opposite of what we once loved. Amateurism is a thing of the past, and while it’s been a somewhat understood element that some compensation happened under the table in the old days, we’ve gradually evolved into an age where it’s money versus money and it’s not long until compensation packages for championships and team logos competing for room on the helmet with a corporate brand outside of Nike or Adidas. Give it time, and we’ll be here:

Brawndo. It’s got electrolytes.

Sigh.

  1. The only corporate sponsor suitable for Dooley Field @ Sanford Stadium is:

    GEORGIA POWER COMPANY….period.

  2. I’m pretty sure this was covered in Revelations along with plagues and locusts as signs of the apocalypse.

    • Its right there front and center:

“For the love of money is the root of all evil”

      1 Timothy 6:10

Money is a necessary evil tho and this is about the best you can do with it:

Not a sentiment likely to be achieved in competitive sports. That chase will eventually lead to some sort of NFL-like socialism for all.

  3. Scott Howard will now have to precede every play call with “this is the Jimmy’s Landscaping drop back by Carson Beck…”

The stadium and field will have naming rights sold. You can bet Kirby is on Josh to get that done. Maybe not NASCAR, but Nike can’t afford the increase in rent to keep other sponsors from getting PGA Tour style patches on the uniforms. 100% professionalism. The only question remaining is if they are going to bother having the kids pretend to have any semblance of still being a student. I seriously doubt it.

    • What is this student you speak of, this is very new to me…

  4. With the super league on the near horizon, those schools on the bottom (non group of 5) and the former division 2 schools will be selling naming rights on their helmets and uniforms on a weekly basis.
Team colors are now meaningless, green is the only pigment.
I think I am going to sit in my rocking chair, sip some bourbon and listen to Munson.

Hey kid get off my lawn!

  5. Brawndo is an excellent reference to “Idiocracy” which is where this whole dash for cash is heading. Nice reference J.P.

I’m cool with naming the field, patches on the uniform, advertising around the perimeter of the field, if, we can do without advertising and TV timeouts during the game. Play 30 minute halves with no consideration for sponsors. I know this sounds like heresy to some, but we can learn from others to make our situation better. IMO.

  6. That last shirt reminded me of the suggestion years ago by some comedian that all politicians should be required to wear their corporate donor’s patches on coat each time the congress is in session so the people can tell for whom they are working.
