Port(al) Masters

Tip of the cap to Navy on this one.

North Texas desired to fire back about the post, to which you have to understand a Service Academy is really good at defense.

Nice. Speaking of, with the passing around of portal stats came this gem:

Not quite zero, but given the pressure to keep up with the NIL Joneses, I’ll take it.

  1. Kirby is different. I actually think he would have taken fewer if it weren’t for other teams poaching his recruits. Reality means he has take some though. Kirby is stubborn, but he isn’t Dabo stubborn.

    • Yeah, we rag on Dabo for not taking portal players, but praise Kirby for only taking a few portal players. Where’s the line?

      • Two paths are emerging…Mark Cuban can buy a new team each year and if Cignetti can build a system to make that work who knows? I think Belicick wanted to do this but had neither the money nor system among his other flaws. The other system is Kirby…recruit, develop and keep via desire and results. Just a few transfers to fill gaps. We see these models at the pro sports level all the time and both have worked but none persist. I’m guessing this is CFBs fate.

      • Kirby isn’t performative about it. I don’t think he likes using the portal but he’s going to any tool available to improve his team. Everything Dabo says or does screams “Look at me.”

  2. Service Academies can’t take in transfers, they can only give away candidates that decline their appointment. Sort of a much adieu (please don’t let Mr Coach Three Year Letterman see I typed that) about nothing type drama/foolishness.
