This has been more stressful to watch than the 1991 Braves.
18 years since the last trip, and all I can say is this team is special. Caden Aoki threw 10000 pitches and we found a way to crawl back off the mat and keep feeding the trees. It’s tough to beat a good team three times…four times…five times…but six times. That’s something folks.
Go Dawgs!
HOW BOUT THEM DIAMOND DAWGS!! Dan Jackson is the man!!
Give him the Golden Spikes right now!
We have had great luck with Daniel Jackson guys
Are there any basketball recruits named Daniel Jackson?
Ain’t that the truth!
Ulcer ball. These guys are unreal at the plate while being Jekyll and Hyde on the mount.
When umpires call a tight strike zone and today’s hitters have aluminum, that’s what you get. Either call the zone wider or go to wood. College pitching is not for the faint of heart. You have to have the same mentality of a corner getting beat man to man.
Pitching isn’t bad. Some sloppy infield D caused a lot of my heartburn. That one pitcher gave up 4 dingers seemed like back to back to back, but aside from that the pitching was good considering umpires and aluminum bats. Wes left that kid in too long, imo, but this team isn’t out of a game ever.
Ring that bell, Athens!
Feared my heart for a while. Just hung in there. Go Dawgs
Those are some brave souls who park their cars behind that left field fence.
Years ago I parked my 66 Chevy truck there and Bo Jackson nearly broke my windshield!
Back in the late 70s, you could park outside the fence and see the game just fine. Just a low chain link fence, like a HS field might have. Guys would sit on the tailgate of their pickup, cooler full of beer and friends to assist. I recall being out there against GTU (77? 78?) and LF/backup QB Gary Hardie got verbally abused for several innings. He was called a bug, a nerd, a loser, maybe a few saltier things. He didn’t react until about the 7th or 8th, when he turned to the fence, carefully shielded his free hand with his glove (still visible to the parking lot) and gave everyone the finger.
The reaction was all the hecklers wanted. Within the next year or two, if I recall correctly, the wall went up. I don’t know if this (or similar incidents) prompted it, but the timing suggests it’s possible.
FTMF.
I’m not going to lie, I went to cut grass in the 8th, accepted whatever result😂
Wow, I did the same thing. I figured I was jinxing them by watching.
Dan Jackson is clutch! How sweet it is!
The name Dan Jackson has been very good for UGA athletics. I pray there is another young Dan out there somewhere with a love for the University of Georgia.
I’m so proud of our DAWGS! 23 years of seasons tickets and including Gordo’s HR these 2 games were the most exciting. I’ll be spent for a week! But we didn’t give up because we knew! We just knew!
The SEC may very well have 5 of the 8 teams in the CWS. That tells you all you need to know about this bunch of DAWGS. Clearly the most competitive conference. They won the SEC regular season and the SEC tournament. They then had to go through SEC teams again to win the regional, and now the super-regional. I don’t think this bunch has any quit in them. They are a battel hardened bunch. If another team is going to win the CWS they are going to have to catch lightning in a bottle and have some luck to beat these DAWGS.
It’s such a different world. A friend and I laughed over the fact TX vs Oregon is SEC vs Big 10.
Former MLB pitcher Trevor May has an interesting YouTube Channel. May has credited Wes Johnson as being the best pitching coach in baseball.
Only one way to top that is win it all now.
Just type in UGA baseball live on YouTube and you can watch the game free. I haven’t been so nervous watching baseball since 91 in my first apartment sophomore year behind Son’s of Italy with crazy roommates I had met at Russ Hell of course we got evicted too loud with two gal law students above us). Moved to Town Club and rolled down another kudzu hill one late night past the track from the ATO house with one of our most famous 20/20 Good Morning America hosting alums. I didn’t even really like her that much what was I thinking? She was too goodie two shoes but we had some firsts lol. But this team reminds me of the absolute panic attack and miracle of Francisco Cabrera. Please dear Lord Jesus I’m getting too old and the liquor just doesn’t help the cortisol anymore. Might need to polymarket this team. Never seen better baseball since the early nineties. And hats off to Miss St. probably the best two games I’ve ever seen ever.
UGA III
Just incredible. Both games were worse than bonkers!
Miss. St. has a great team too. They got shafted being slotted the 14 seed and having to face another SEC team. It would have been interesting if they had been matched against UNC.
Have not watched a game all year. Tuned in yesterday to the 7th inning and watched the Georgia MBB curse kick in. Left for an appointment in the 9th but listened on the radio. How sweet it is! I will not watch anything in Omaha live but just sit in the car listening to do my part properly. GO DAWGS!
