I played in the dirt enough as a child (Tonka toys when they were made of real steel and rubber) for Earth Day to be on my birthday.
Earth Day was initially championed by Democratic Senator Gaylord Nelson and Republican Representative Paul McCloskey in 1970. Wish we could get bipartisan action today on anything.
