Back when CDs were cutting-edge technology, we threw the styrofoam couches in our Appleby apartment into the back of a pick-up and rode around one late spring evening. Surprisingly, the popo left us alone. Maybe they thought we were in Chevy’s new Subaru Brat competitor.

Athens in the late 80s was a magical place.

Taking classes during summer quarter was the best. Ratio was almost 12 to 1 girls. They would lay out on the north campus lawns getting tan, slide on cut off shorts and head to class smelling like coconut oil. Best days of my life!

Spent three out of four summers up there. Would take one class and work. Had a meal ticket at Mayflower, Strickland’s and a place where raising canes is now. I can’t remember the name. Less crowd and plenty of girls. Magic.
