Message Board Geniuses: CFB Team Mostly Likely to Disappoint in 2026

MBG would like to weigh in on a topic of importance…who is going to be the biggest letdown in college football this upcoming season?

Is it even possible for Tennessee to disappoint at this point? Shouldn’t they be used to a solid two to three losses per season now? Granted, they don’t have to play Georgia (barring a matchup in the SECCG or CFP)…but to say we have high hopes for the Vols nowadays is an exercise in futility.

Or do they mean disappoint as in disappointing people who are hoping they’ll do poorly?

Personally, if I’m arguing with MBGs on this one, I’d say that tOSU, Oregon, or Texas Tech are more likely to disappoint, just maybe not in the way they’re describing. Lanning can’t get over the hump, the Suckeyes lost a good bit of talent off their roster that I find hard for them to merely replace, and I don’t think I need to mention the hole TTU is in given the hype around their “I’ll buy that for a dollar” mentality of roster building.

What do you think? Who will be the most disappointing team in CFB this season?

  1. I’m stunned we aren’t on that list. Is no one expecting anything from us this year? Wait, now I’m insulted. HOW DARE YOU NOT THINK WELL ENOUGH OF US TO DISAPPOINT! HOW DARE YOU, SIR.

Anyway, for me it’s Ole Miss. There’s something about Goulding.

  2. I think LSU is going to disappoint. The problem at LSU hasn’t been talent or, honestly, coaching. Since the departure of Les Miles (and maybe going all the way back to Saban), the problem has been culture. The talent of their 2019 team and Brady/Aranda overcame that plus Orgeron. Now you bring in the ultimate culture Kancer in Joey Freshwater.

Kiffin hasn’t been successful in a high pressure job like LSU’s yet. I don’t see it.

    • It looks to me like Kiffin’s stepped into a very rotten culture of low effort guys. Maybe the player turnover is enough to fix it. He has to get it corrected fast the early part of the schedule will not be easy.

  3. Along the same line as Tennessee, how can the Aggies disappoint? If they do it every season, isn’t it more on their fans that they’re still disappointed?

    • Texas and TX A&M have high expectations because they don’t have to play us during the regular season.

  4. I would have UT on that list too. Their fans expect at least 8-4. This team could easily get below that.

LSU is another one I expect to disappoint. Add the loser of the Aggies versus hook’em.

  5. Indiana, Miami, Bama (4+ losses).

    How can you disappoint when you;
    1) Dont have a QB (TX Tech)
    2) Been irrelevant since Joe Burrow (LSU)
    3) Disappointment every year (Tenn)

  6. I am surprised we are not on the list. They don’t like our qb room or our qb, our ribs are not top 10, and they don’t like our was.
