Live by the Portal, Die by the Portal – Week 8 Mumme Poll Results

Screw you, Carson Beck! I keed, I keed…but seriously, screw you, Mario Cristobal!

Dropping from the poll: UNLV (23), Texas (23), Utah (21), USC (18), Memphis (15)

Let’s just say no one here was impressed with a double overtime victory in Lexington, Texass. Lincoln Riley keeps doing Lincoln Riley things, and Memphis saw the glass slipper fall off at the hands of an interim head coach (Chris Mortenson’s son) and a fiesty UAB team. Utah lost the holy war, and Dopey Dan finally tasted defeat in Las Vegas. Sad.

Imagine if you could take Iowa’s defense and merge it with an offense with a pulse? Could Ferentz come to Athens and help us make a super team? Tulane is getting hot just as rumors and wishes are circulating for Sumrall to come to the Plains or possibly Hogtown.

How LSU hangs on here, that’s beyond me. Anyway, looks like they’re ready to get back on track with a drone show in Baton Rouge:

Maybe Kelly can land in Chapel Hill next year with a fresh start and a new accent?

It could happen, per our poll, the majority (70+%) of you seeing Freeze as the next to get the axe, followed in a close 2nd and 3rd by Stoops and Kelly.

  1. “Maybe Kelly can land in Chapel Hill next year with a fresh start and a new accent?”

The folks at UNC wouldn’t know what to do with Kelly. The only true success they’ve had this millennium was during Butch Davis’ brief stay that ended with the academic scandal. Other than that, they’ve leaned heavily on hires that make the decision-makers in Hogstown look downright brilliant.

  2. If I’m Brian Kelly’s agent I’m calling Penn State with have I got a deal for you. He’s just a bad fit for that job. The players aren’t buying what he’s selling. Saban and Meyer proved northern coaches can do fine in the south without fake accents or hokey dancing.

  3. Kelly managed to coach ND into the ACC championship a few times. That league and level of competition seem suited for him.
