It’s Getting Drafty Around Here

The Draft starts tonight. In case you were wondering which of your favorite draft-eligible Dawgs were going where, let’s hash it out.

Based on most of the projections I see, and without scientifically calculating anything, here’s what I’ve been able to pick up:

Sure First Rounder: Monroe Freeling

Likely First Rounder but Confident Second Rounder: Christen Miller and CJ Allen

Possible Second Rounder but Definite Third Rounder: Zachariah Branch

Possibly Third Round, At Worst Fourth: Daylen Everette

Fourth Rounders That Might Luck Into the Third: Oscar Delp

Definitely Drafted, Though Later Rounds: Colbie Young, Micah Morris

Sweating the Late Rounds or Hoping for a Miracle or Anomaly of Drafting: Dillon Bell, Brett Thorson, Noah Thomas

Hey! I did play here, you know?

Undrafted Free Agent: Cash Jones, Beau Gardner, JaCorey Thomas

Who are you rooting for the most in this year’s draft?

  1. For the first time in a while, the entire draft just doesn’t seem very exciting to me. I’ll still be watching, but nothing will move the meter much unless we have like 6+ players drafted which seems likely based on that list. The Falcons will remain hopeless. I feel bad for Matt Ryan having to be the face of it now. Your headline made me chuckle though!

  2. I most hope Jerry Jones keels over, falls on his son wiping him out and the entire family in grief makes the snap decision before the first pick to sell the franchise to Mark Cuban or Elon Musk who immediately takes over the draft for the Cowboys. Barring that somewhat unlikely outcome, let the Dawgs prosper but no more to stupid Philly.

  3. I’m curious where Delp goes. I mean, he is a good player, but I wouldn’t put him in the elite category. He isn’t going to outrun anybody and his hands are what I’d call average to slightly above average.

So is it his blocking skills that would determine his draft pecking order?

  4. Since this a draft topic let me hijack it a little. I read an article where the pro scouts are bemoaning the lack of talent available on the interior D line positions. They say that it doesn’t look like there is a first round D line prospect in the country. Why? Speculation is that NIL is to blame because it’s a position that uniquely benefits a kid if they stay at one school to develop. But, of course there aren’t many staying in one place. It’s a selling point that CKS is stressing. Hopefully, some kids will listen.
