Georgia’s Dynasty is Over Pawwwllll

Finebaum has a think.

“Georgia had a record-breaking 15 players selected in the 2022 NFL draftincluding five first-round picks. No college football team has ever had more players selected in one NFL draft. Georgia was able to reload with quarterback Stetson Bennett and company in 2022 en route to a second straight national championship. “But they haven’t quite been able to fill those needs. And I know the point was made earlier about Stetson Bennett winning two national championships, but he had one of the all-time defenses. And I don’t think Georgia has that. That Alabama game is problematic in September and so are a number of other games that Georgia is going to have to deal with including a visit from Arch Manning (and Texas) late in the season.”

Say a lot to say nothing. It’s as though Paul is ignoring the portal, recruiting, and some very obvious and glaring points from last year that 2024 could be an anomaly and not the norm. But, he doesn’t get paid the big bucks to think and study, just throw our rage bait or regurgitate the popular offseason narratives (Archduke is the second coming, Alabama is rebuilt and better than ever forget about Vanderbilt already, etc).

49 days until the pads do the talking. Let’s hope we’re shutting a bunch of people up real soon.

  1. All they’ve done since the two natties is go 1-1 in the SECCG.

    That’s it!

We do have some questions, but so does everyone else. Plus, most of the toughest games are in Athens.

  2. Georgia hasn’t “quite been able to fill those needs.” I have not contrasted Georgia’s won loss record the past 4 years with anybody the current pundit favorites, or looked to see how many others finished in the top 4 of the final playoff committee selections the past 4 years, but I will bet there are not 4 Big 10 and SEC teams that have had the rosters and coaching staffs to accomplished what we did ( damn, that is the Grandaddy of run on sentences, isn’t it.)
My point is that all those others had to fill the needs that kept them from being at our level. Pawwwl takes it as a given that our top composite top 4 recruiting ranking the past 3 years have not kept less powerful teams from passing us.
That is a huge assumption .
I know he cites Arch Manning but Bama. Ole Miss, Tennessee. etc aren’t borrowing him for their games against us.

  3. Well lads, I guess we may as well pack it up and go home because Penishead thinks that Texas’ second string QB is going to take over the sport or something something.

September can’t get here fast enough…

  4. Finebaum hasn’t had an original (or even cogent) thought about college football since Mike Price was in Pensacola. I’ve never met him, but my daughter did once on the set of SEC Network (she thought he was very nice). Once the microphone turns on, he’s a douche of the highest order unless you’re a Bammer or Shorthorn.

  5. Y’all should bow down to Finbaum’s genius he and Nolan Smith II know the truth: we a 7-5 team

  6. Manning has done NOTHING of note yet he is the second coming. Alabama is no longer coached by Saban and that does not matter. Kirby lines disrespect to motivate and he is getting it. GO DAWGS!!

  7. To make this jibber jabber make sense you have to think like what CC Rider used to refer to as the Pee Pee Dawgs. The people in our fan base who are always shutting their pants over soem “concern” or other. Their take seems to be the portal only hurts Georgia and helps everybody else. Other teams upgrade. Georgia only suffers losses. All other teams have no recruiting busts. Only Georgia misses. Injuries only happen to Georgia and even if they do happen to other teams it will somehow only make them better. This is what passes for logic when it comes to Paaaaaaaaawl and the Pee Pee Dawgs.

      • I didn’t come up with it. Writer’s credit goes to CC Rider at the now defunct Sports and Grits blog. The Perimeter Mafia at GTP made up of carpetbaggers, kowed Southerners who hate themselves, and general stuffed shirts hated that blog but at one time it was daily reading for me along with GTP. Imagine if Ranger Russ and about three just like him had started a blog and you’ve got a good idea of what it was like.
